What’s Your Ever-Enduring Gift Request?

August 11, 2021

If someone were to ask you what you wanted gift-wise, what would be the thing you can never have to many of?

For me, it’s large Moleskine journals, nice pens and bookshop gift cards. I can never get enough of those things.

I keep very specific journals for different things and it helps my busy brain to have a ready supply. And books … well I am a tragic bookworm.

I always have 100 books on my wishlist and do not have the income to support my habit. Possibly newly-revealed billionaire Rihanna would not have the income to support my habit, but I digress.

In these times of caring more about waste and keeping things simple perhaps it’s a brilliant idea to let your folk know what types of things would work best for you?

What would be your things? What do you always want, gift-wise?

x Pip

PS: This is not a hint. I am not wanting gifts! I have just been thinking about this and wondered what types of things people love.

PPS: I’m fully vaccinated! As of today! Yay!

Hello, Pip! I love to receive stationery as a gift. Thus, my friends will buy me postcards, writing paper, etc for the holidays. Ciao!

Anything plant related is my favourite thing! I’m curious about you having specific journals for different things. I try to have one journal with everything. So at least I know if I wrote it down somewhere it will be in that one book. Not always foolproof but I “think” it keeps my mind clearer 😉
    Cheers,

For several years my sister bought me hanging baskets for birthdays/Christmas – I now have a gloriously eclectic collection. It was always such a delight to get a new one. Sadly the space is getting a bit limited now, though I think I can squeeze a few more in there! I love sitting outside with them.

Being a tea-drinking, crafting (especially with yarn), reader who likes making lists: tea, craft supplies, yarn, books (or book vouchers), and stationery are all greatly appreciated. And plants for all those hanging baskets of course 🙂

Hi Pip, I always always always want to receive handmade ceramics. Cups in particular. I love the look and the feel of them. And tea or coffee is always better from a beautiful cup!

Hmm, my go-to response is usually the good old Bunnings gift voucher. But I love getting plants of any kind, even as cuttings. Crochet hooks with handmade fimo handles and fun stitch markers!

I’m in the process of decluttering and own so many books, my shelf space is severely limited, so I bought myself a Kobo so I can borrow ebooks from the library – I love it! My friends know that I love to receive art supplies most of all; I can’t get enough! I love giving and receiving tea things too – pots, cups, caddies, sugar bowls – anything tea related will be well-loved and used. And flowers, particularly ones that smell beautiful, like lilac, gardenias, jonquils and violets.

I love all your things, Karena!!! It made me feel so happy reading about them. x

Is there anything more lovely than a book with a handwritten message in the front from your lovely gift giver? This kinda thing makes my heart sing. And…handmade gifts…and stationery…and flowers of any description.

Bookshop gift cards as I’m a hopeless bookworm too.?? I don’t mind fountain pens either. Notebooks are a great idea, never thought of that!

    Welcome to the vaccinated club!

Welcome to the fully vaxxed club Pip!! Feels good doesn’t it 🙂

I think we both know I’m in the bookworm club like you. I will never tire of being given books. And I know you said it’s not a hint but I could keep an eye out at the op-shop or book bazaar I visit every few month for you if you had a list of books you’re keen on. I always get so sad when I see great books on the shelves I already have or just aren’t my bag. Let me know, I’d love to send you something if I find it!

My newish obsession is skincare so I’ll take a Mecca voucher thanks! I also love getting big home items for gifts, stuff like cookware!

Vouchers are a winner here too, as is yarn. Lovely Australian grown, squishy 100% wool, but only if there’s enough to make something. It sounds ungrateful, but 100 g of yarn doesn’t go far.

I will always accept gift vouchers for almost everything haha.

I like to get books – I always get cookbooks for Christmas, and if I had wealthier friends I’d be asking for holiday vouchers too, not that they’re useful right now!!
Then there are art supplies, watercolour paper or even artwork by friends.
I’m also partial to good pens and notebooks.

Hankies are always good, liberty print florals or vintage.
Chocolate is nice (I prefer milk but if I get dark it stops me eating it too quickly).
And hand cream, small ones preferably so they can be carried in my handbag.

    I like this question,
Book shop vouchers are always welcome here, and notebooks, I use a lined decomposition book every morning to do a brain dump.
I also often ask for specific yarn or a voucher to buy yarn.
I’m also rather partial to a meal cooked and cleaned up after. I have also been known to ask for the car to be washed and cleaned.
Any of these are on high rotation
I do love the look of those pens though, do you use a fountain pen?
    Cheers Kate

Oh Pip. Same, same except I don’t care what sort of notebook I use. I love anything stationery and yes ,book vouchers. I never buy new books unless someone gives me a voucher or a book I have requested for my birthday, Christmas or Mother’s Day.
