A List Of Good Things

I’ve been posting lots of links to other people’s stuff over the last week, so I thought I would catch up and tell you some of the Good Things that happened to ME this week!  Sometimes I tread a fine line between ME and OTHER PEOPLE on this blog. Sometimes it’s nice to have a little break from the ME part!  Here is a little Good Thing catch up for you, in case you have been following along with A Year Of Good Things.
Good Things are really good for you. Do some Good Things of your own, or make a list of things you have already done. It’s a guaranteed Pick-Me-Up!

25th February : 55/366 : We went to the beach. It was quite good and a lot exhausting. It’s such a long way down to the shore and we had heaps of things to carry. We didn’t catch any crabs, but we also didn’t get bothered by those bitey flies. It’s a GOOD THING not to get bitten by flies. It’s a GOOD THING to hang with your family, even if it’s a bit of hard work.
26th February : 56/366 : I had a cosy day on the couch. We ate nice food and watched telly and recovered from our beachy day. It’s a GOOD THING to know when to rest and take it a bit easy.  It will set you in good stead for the week, if you do. Maybe YOU want to hang out on the couch, like we did?  I think you will like doing it, if you will just give it a try.

27th February : 57/366 : I spent the whole day on Monday writing for my various jobs.  Since we closed the shop I get to call myself a full time writer and blogger.  I block out BIG and LONG blocks of time to do the bulk of my weeks work and then I snatch at hours here and there between other things to finish things off or keep things spontaneous and current.  I spend a lot of time on social media sites like Twitter and Facebook for my job.  I really like that because it’s sort of like having a virtual office where I can hang out with lots of people and talk about what I am having for lunch and stuff.  It’s one of the Good Things about working from home. There is no anti-Facebook policy here. It is encouraged whole-heartedly (by myself!)
28th February : 58/366 : Tuesday I worked from dawn till very late too. The Good Thing was that I got to sit on the couch. I watched TV with half an eye as I typed away.  We bought our couch on eBay a few months ago.  It came all the way from Sydney, carted by a nice bloke called Steve.  It’s a pretty HUGE modular/sectional leather lounge suite, made in 1982 by Moran.  Two people can lie full length on it quite comfortably.  I find that to be a Good Thing. I do not lie down when I am working, don’t get me wrong. But I know that I COULD, if I wanted to and that is heartening.
29th February : 59/366 : On Wednesday I did a really Good Thing and went to Gourmet Girlfriend’s place for lunch.  Kootoyoo and Foxs Lane went too. We had the most hilariously good time. I wish you could have been there too. You would have loved it!  GG made a lovely lunch and I accidentally drove there on an expired license, so we snacked on the lovely and talked about my criminality and how I was going to be the next Martha Stewart.  I renewed my license the very same afternoon, so fear not.  Its a Good Thing to have a valid license.  Make sure you write the expiry date of yours in your diary lest your renewal reminder go astray like mine did.
1st March : 60/366 : On Thursday I revived an old meme from this blog. It’s called Words & Pictures and it’s all about writing or photographing or sharing something to a theme.  The idea is to create opportunities for people to write things on their blog that might not fit into their ‘normal’ blog style.  It works really well, because we get to see a little bit more of who people are, from a different angle. It’s a Good Thing.
2nd March : 61/366 : We went to IKEA and bought some more plants. We already had quite a few, but I am obsessed with having a jungle in my lounge room after I wrote this piece on JustB.  I love indoor gardens. Somehow they have gone from daggy to amazingly lovely. I think it’s because I have drifted far enough from my teenage years to actually LIKE the kinds of things we had in our childhood home?!  I also love PINE. Yes. PINE. Pine works with indoor gardens and macrame. I’m all for a PINE revival. Please can the pine be sustainable or recycled though, to keep things nice?  Pine and Indoor Gardens are my Good Things for Friday.
3rd March : 62/366 : SIXTY THREE of 366. Weird. And I live at number 63 too. This must be an auspicious day! I stayed at home with my family and made Minestrone soup and Kimchi Salad and watched movies on the Boxee Box Media Hub.  You can get all kinds of movies on that thing. There is an app which aggregates media content from all over the place. I don’t know HOW those movies are allowed to be streamed. Maybe they are not? I looked it up and the information I found said that streaming is not illegal. I don’t know…  Anyhoo I had a lovely day with my family and we were couching it up and snacking and basically doing stuff in our pajamas for most of the day. It was super good.  Pajama Days are a Good Thing.  (Are you a lawyer? Do you know if streaming movies from remote sources is a no-go? Or is it technically allowed? I want to do the right thing…!)
I hope your days have been full of Good Things too. I have all kinds of things going on in my life at the moment. Lots of opportunities being offered to me. I am finding it QUITE hard to know which ones to choose. Do you ever feel like that?

xx Pip

Hey Pip just to let you know Australian grown Pine is a very sustainable timber, and most plantations in the Southern states are certified. I know coz I'm a forester and I live in Mount Gambier, the centre of the Green Triangle. Not only is it grown sustainably but it is also processed locally. If you are buying Australian grown timber you are generally pretty safe, even from native forests. It is overseas timber, especially tropical timbers, that you need to look out for. That timber usually comes from land clearing.
Thanks for the blog Pip, and I love pine too, all my childhood furniture was pine ๐Ÿ™‚

Those succulents are amazing! I've been trying to get mine to be as robust, but maybe their pots are too small? Cosy day on the couch sounds absolutely perfect.

I had a huge, exciting week last week.
But hanging with you three chickies was definitely one of the highest highlights.
    Such a Good thing.
And I'm so pleased you're not going to jail.
Although I would have baked you a cake with a file in it and busted you out for sure. x

I'm right there with you when you realise the daggy things in your childhood home were actually cool. My good thing was realising that growing up in a home filled with patchwork bed spreads , crotchet throws , homemade toys and clothes, surrounded by Eames furniture and cake tins that were never empty is nothing to be ashamed of! I now appreciate and admire the crafting goddess my mother has always been ๐Ÿ™‚

Your life is so different to mine – in that it seems full of endless variety, people and options to choose. I love reading about your world though Pip, and I've got to admit, sometimes you're talking about people or things that I have never heard of! My confession and excuse being, I don't have a tv and so it takes me a long time to catch up with the latest…(and by then, of course, it's gone)
I live in a small, rural area so options can be a little thin on the ground – but we make our own here. I'm in the midst of organising an afternoon tea held at my friend's 12 bedroom heritage home. It's going to be a gorgeous day if the weather is kind…and we have the Tasmanian Police Pipe Band turning up to play in the afternoon. I am still trying to convince some local men to be Mr Darcy and dive into the dam for a swim…wish me luck! ๐Ÿ™‚
