:: A Year Of Good Things : 29/366 (Yesterday!)

January 30, 2012

Look at this!  Yesterday Cam found this on the side of the road in a pile of rubbish.  It seems to be a vintage Mary Blair print! OMG. It’s in lovely condition!  That is a very Good Thing!

Do you like Mary Blair? Do you like the things other people throw out? What’s the BEST thing you’ve found in roadside rubbish?

xx Pip

I still can't get over what people throw away, today, in this day and age. Only last week I found a 5 drawer Alrob chest of drawers and a white vinyl 60s armchair. Having just moved to Melbourne leaving ALL our furniture in Holland this is a good thing. They both need some love but will scrub up fancy and probably stay in our lives for a good long while.

Mary Blair print – AMAZING find (also extremely envious of mention of leopard print couch from The Cereal Diner)

    Wow! Very good finds!

I love Mary Blair's artwork, too. She is really amazing. I saw her work at Disneyland.

My best trash finds were an acoustic guitar and a banjo and a toy piano! I still have all of them, though the toy piano is very old.

I also found a light up Santa on a bicycle.

Great find! I was found a gorgeous 1950s leopard faux fur coat. It actually was filthy and stank but once I got it professionally cleaned it was beautiful. Spookily, years later I made friends with a girl who saw me wearing it and recognised it as one she had given to a junk shop years before!

    Someone roadside-rubbished THAT? *faints*

You lucky, lucky duck; Mary Blair is the bees knees!
By the way, I love following your blog, Pip. Thank you for sharing.

I find many things! A guitar, 2 old trunks, one which has become a window seat and the other once oiled up became a beautiful old toy box. I also found a couple of old chairs, I later decided I didn't need them, so put them on eBay, where they fetched over $300.
I like to rescue plants too!

Now that is an amazing find. Once an ercol chair but I left it as it was so heavy, always regretted it! Jx

Wow, that's a brilliant freebie find! I once found a tartan nursing chair (with the name Rod Stewart stitched into it) but my now-husband made me give it up – that was before he understood the joy of junk furniture!

Cute print! I am such a hard rubbish loiterer and not ashamed to admit I have saved many a treasure before they make it to landfill. My fav would be an art deco sideboard which now displays my teacup collection. Everyone thought I was mad when I talked my husband into bringing it home because it was in a terrible state, but I had a vision and now after a revamp it's quite the crowd pleaser! 🙂

This is awesome! I once found a leopard print vintage couch on the side of the road and in perfect condition. It is my pride and joy. Another time I found a long buffet style 70s cabinet with inbuilt record player and speakers, another great roadside find.

I found a cane side table once without a top. I plopped a mirror on it and now it's in the garden being useful 🙂 Love your find.

Nice! I once fond a whole collection of Beatles singles — in pristine condition.
