Hello

:: A Year Of Good Things : 17/366 : Meet Me At Yikes!

January 17, 2012

LOOK AT OUR SHOP. OMG.  It’s nude. It’s a mess. We’ve been painting and plastering and cutting holes in the wall. We’ve been getting ready to make the shop our living room and office/studio.  It’s kind of a shambles now.  I thought you might like to see!  If you’ve been to our shop, you will know that we’ve just cut a hole in the orange wall.  And that means we can walk in the front door and into our house!  It used to be a much more convoluted process.  We had to go through the shop and past the side door and in the next door. Now we can just walk in and through. Or in and UP!  I am super excited to make this into a cosy home room.  We have been squished in for so long, it will be nice to un-squish a titch.  Phew.
This is part of our new beginning for Meet Me at Mike’s!  Soon we’ll launch our new-style blog. And then the online store. And we’ll also get around to the new issue of Good Stuff too.  It’s a little delayed because the WEDDING is taking up a lot of my head space at the moment. Are weddings like that, do you think? I do not know, I have never had one, but it’s super nice to be planning Rin’s with her!

Was your day rad?

xx Pip

Hi Pip! Longggggggg time reader =)

"Good stuff" has nudged me to not just do good stuff (for me or others) but also to wake up each morning & strive for my first thought to be Thank you. I may not have everything I need & want – but I have a great deal & every day I am grateful for what I DO have.

Long story short – thanks for being great. And here is a link for a site I just found yesterday, it goes along with your do good campaign. I've contributed a bit the last day or so. Its simple but does a lot!

    so excited for you Pip!
    more space is exciting!
we are going to be making ourselves more space this year too.
i understand how exciting that is!
me & Guy decided to get married and were 6 weeks later. i did everything.
    invites, food, planning.
    hilarious
i even made a croquembouche for my own wedding!
we didn't really know all the 'rules' about how to 'do' a wedding (luckily) so we just did whatever we wanted.
now I look back and realise how mental that was!
but it was a super relaxed lovely day on the beach with me & my red wedding dress & my new husband and all our friends.
    so nice.

Oh sad! Where will I go when I visit Melbourne now? Your living room!? I hope you are keeping the window so I can watch you like gold fish! Hehe! Good luck with the reno.

We ran away to Broome to get married! Just me and him and a couple of witnesses! Only my two besties knew! It was VERY rad. And stress free. Ive just produced a granddaughter so I think my mum has forgiven me now?!

I was itching for you guys to cut a hole in that wall – finally! Hey does Cam have any Leo sized bikes? He has outgrown the previous find and now looks like a clown pedalling super-fast!

Wow! A new house (kinda) how exciting!

We had a new big living room added last year after almost 10 years without – we kind of all just had more breath once it was complete and absorbed into our livingnessness. I have a tissue and tulle flower tutorial that i made for my best friend's wedding (at our house) if you want to have a play with that – they go very well with pompoms. Good luck!!!
    Lots of love,
Kate (from greedy for colour) xxooxxooxx

ABSOLUTELY! I got married last summer. We made EVERYTHING ourselves, and it totally took over for 5 months!!! Everything else was pushed to the side. I like the pompom idea. We nearly had them, but made paper ones in the end – I'm in the UK, so will try and make some wooly ones and super speedily send them to you for the big day ; ) x

My wedding was really casual, so no stress. But it does take a lot of head space for everyone involved! PS Those bods will make some great coat racks in your new living room!

  • Kirsty January 17, 2012 at 9:04 PM

    Look how great it is!

Your new lounge is going to be FABULOUS. x

Nope no weddings here so far and not likely at 42…so vicariously following along. (and quietly dreading that miss 20 will ever want one)
