HI my name is Jess and I’m super excited to be doing a co-host week on the Mikes blog. For those who don’t know me, I make bears and I’m big on all things wonky, and so really, I had no choice but to do A WEEK OF WONK.
In the Beginning…
Many years ago now, I received a little bear in the mail. I had bought him off the internet and was expecting a beautiful white antique bear. What I did not realise was that I was also going to begin a life changing new philosophy, for when I opened up the package, he was not totally as he appeared in the photos, he was far more WONKY and lopsided and vulnerable and “imperfect” and far more beautiful and adorable and I loved him more than I thought I would.
I could barely ( no pun intended) breathe, so big was the love. I named him Wilbur and he has, in his wonky way, inspired and changed me.
It wasn’t just his crooked nose, contorted body, and his squishy ankles, he was so wonky inside and out, so vulnerable and unsure. All this wonkiness both internal and external, his faults and wonks made him more beautiful and it gave me a whole new look at the way I made bears, and my outlook on life.
WE all have our wonky days where we just feel WONKY. Our squidgies , faults and vulnerabilities, these make us beautiful and unique just as much as our star qualities and our strengths. Embrace the wonk! I say don’t fight it. I’d love to see other people’s A Week of Wonk, so please play along. There is so much WONK out there!
Wonky food, houses, craft, bears ( of course) and toys, people, teeth, songs, furniture the list is endless But remember, Wonk is not just about physically lopsided and wonky things. Wonk is a state of mind , an emotional state, a fear perhaps or vulnerable spot. ( well for me anyway)
xx Jess
