Hello

:: Wedding Plates…

November 11, 2011

I’m collecting plates for Rin’s wedding in February. I need 100 dinner plates and 100 small plates for cake! This is the start of the collection!  We’re going for a lovely mismatched vintage look, so I’m collecting pretty floral and also more 60s and 70s folksy plates too!

The count so far (it’s early days!)
Dinner Plates = TEN
Small Plates = FOUR

Wish me luck!!  If you have any plates you think might suit (ones that you don’t need, of course!) DO send them on! Rin and Joe would LOVE that!

xx Pip

    Hi Pip,

I still have the little plates left over from my wedding that I found at oppies. You're more than welcome to have them. I think there's about 80 in the box. I can't remember what they look like though, it's been a while since I looked at them.
Send me an email if you're interested, kittyspeer(at)gmail(dot)com

    Have a lovely week

    Hi Pip!
    What a lovely idea!
I don't have any plates for you but I do have two lovely blogs that you might like to read. When I read House of Humble I immediately thought of you!

    Hi Pip,
I was at the Trash & Treasure at Wantirna this morning and there were heaps and heaps of plates. A bit far from your neck of the woods, but a pretty straight run out on Eastlink. Worth the trip. Not sure what they were charging for them though … Gorgeous idea.

    Hi Pip,

Looked for some for you (I collect them too) but can't find any anywhere! It's like finding vintage linen… needle in a haystack!

I just love everything about your blog!

What a great idea – we use mismatched plates and bowls everyday and it's great. None of this must match boringness for us! Good luck on your hunt!

I love that idea – you are off to a great start!

What a gorgeous idea. Have you been out to Savers at Mill Park. They have a great collection of crockery at excellent prices. I picked up some beautiful plates there a few months back and could have easily bought dozens from what they had.

I love this look and I think it's a wonderful idea for a wedding. I have a bunch of plates that don't match. I've been collecting them at garage sales for years. I'd let you borrow them if we lived closer.

My friends did something similar for their wedding, except they used plates from their grandparents. It was so lovely and a good connection to the past. However, there were about forty plates needed, not 100! Good luck and have fun on the hunt!

I love that mismatched vintage plate look.
Jess see if your caterer can get you some plain white plates to mix in it will break up the busyness of the patterned china.
And if anyone needs ruffle tablecloths I sell & hire them.

we're doing this for our wedding in March. I thought i needed 60 dinner plates and 60 side plates and then my caterer told me I need 60 for bread & 60 for cake… 120 side plates! Oh no! I find myself becoming less & less fussy!! Have fun! Jess x

    That is a lovely idea.
When it comes to weddings the less traditional we try to be, the more enjoyable the experience for everyone including the people planning the event.
Years ago when Michael and I were planning our wedding there was a lot of pressure from family to turn it into a big fat Italian shindig that would have put any nation into debt. But we stuck to our guns and had an intimate wedding in nature's cathedral – in a park. And one of the cool things about getting married in the park, is that we can take our children there for scones, to watch the ducks waddling about. And we can tell them this is where mummy and daddy got married.
