:: TODAY = Paying bills, playing Monopoly (somehow those are related!), eating pizza (smothered in chilli and garlic sauce!) from Fatto a Manno, stuffing rolls with Salmon Patties, mayo and MORE chilli, having visitors, writing prompts for presentation tomorrow, warming toes, making corn & bacon & potato chowder, listening to budgies, crocheting ripples, sipping chai, spooning honey into teacups, feeding sausages to dogs… that kinda stuff!
:: REMEMBERING = family monopoly rules (for instance all the money you have to pay to Community Chest or Chance goes into the ‘pot’ and is WON by whoever rolls a double six!), every time we went to the butcher when we were kids, he would give us a free (cold) cocktail frankfurt (which we devoured!), small children up to their waists in the freezing Wintery waters of Coles Bay on a long ago holiday.
What are you doing? What are you remembering?
xx Pip

In our house you get that pot of Monopoly 'bill' money if you land on free parking. Also, (and this is a mum rule!) if you land on someone's property and you have to pay them rent, you have to hand the money over nicely. If you throw it you have to pay it again!
I used to get cocktail franks from the butcher too. I don't think any we go to still give the cocktail savs.
I used to go to Coles Bay with my family every summer when I was little. The Freycinet Peninsular is so beautiful. Did you do any walks? Wine Glass Bay is such a special place.
Heh, we used to play that Free Parking gets the paid money from taxes and cards.
Sounds like a good day.
Our butcher used to give me cold cocktail franks too!!!
And my mum would give me still-frozen fish fingers!
Oh I remember the free cold cocktail frankfurts! (But in NZ for some reason we called them Cheerios). Our butcher did that too! Are they allowed to still do that? Probably not…
Today I'm dog sitting, reading in the sun,and eating everything in the fridge that will be past its used by tomorrow.
I am remembering Playing in the hay shed then trying to get all the hay off me so that my grandpa would't know. I wasn't allowed to play in the hay.
That sounds like a fulfilling day Pip! I had a good day today too! I drove my mum to the nearest (not very near) Spotlight to pick up some yarn at their 30% off sale. I bought some wool for my sister who is crocheting a hexagon rug and I bought pretty coloured wool for me to make myself some Pippy Slippers! After I dropped my mum home I popped into Bunnings to get one or two things and ended up buying plants as well. Then I spent the beautiful sunny and warm afternoon out in my new garden pottering around making things look pretty. Sigh. And there is a whole other day tomorrow! Yay!
Today we slept in a bit, had breakfast from the yummy cafe up the road, went looking for an iron bed (still haven't found the right one), I looked for wool while HE read the paper in the car, went to the postoffice with a "just because" gift for a friend, the electricians came to sort out the electrical things for our new kitchen, I cut out a dress and now I'm knitting a vest for a friend's little girl. I'd better get my skates on, we're going out for dinner in half an hour!
Our butcher used to give us a slice of German (that's what we called it – other people called it Belgium or Fritz. Really it's luncheon meat!)
Oh I love chai 🙂 Sounds like a lovely day. Mine – brunch and meeting new people. Then Brown Owls at Knit Lab.

Have a wonderful week Pip! Ames 🙂
oh sounds lovely. We play same monopoly rules. More fun this way. Thank you for asking what we are doing today. It all began with soccer games and lots of cheering in the wintery morning sunshine. Then home to finish a scarf for a friend and cook and prepare for an Indian feast with friends for dinner tonight. Each family bring a dish. Hmmmmm, hubbie cooking his very delish butter chicken. Have a lovely rest of weekend at your place.
I'm pottering in my new house – trying to make it feel like home so I can start creating memories here. I'm slowly getting there – put pictures up, burning some incense and discovering how many objects I have that represent how much I am loved.
I love the sound of your day, busy and relaxed at the same time! How clever. I am pottering, doing loads of washing and hanging them on the line. Grumpily swearing under my breath at the noisy trailbike riders thrashing through the bush nearby. Plotting dinner tonight – something fresh and vegetarianey, I think. Remembering Saturdays of my childhood, making paper boats from newspaper and floating them down the bluestone gutters in the rain.
