Continuing on with Angela’s meme and Leah’s theme this week – be sure to join in…. This is my collection.
I am a bit of a mental case when it comes to collecting. I collect collections, you might say. I collect Little Golden Books, Ladybird Books, Vintage Childrens Books in general. I collect cookbooks, vintage aprons, stocking dolls from the 1970s. I collect Figgjo ceramics, Holly Hobbie, Swap Cards and Wallpaper. I collect toy sewing machines. I could go on, but it gets a bit boring for y’all. So here is one of my favourite collections.
I love these mugs. I can’t help it. I know they are bad. But to me, they are so bad they are good! They are my dirty little collecting secret. If you have any, I’ll gladly buy them from you. I love them that much. Sometimes taste goes out the window and kitsch reigns supreme.
This collection started when we were still in Richmond, and one of our neighbours gave me the MIKE mug. After that, there was no stopping me. If i see one of these in the op-shop, i gasp audibly. Mmmmm mugs. If you come to my house, i may just ask you if you feel like being ‘Bruce’ or ‘Lori’… at least now you will know what i mean.
xx mikes

I found a Megan for you at Super Savers in Preston. Will bring it along to the crafty peeps night!
I have never seen any mugs like those but I love anything with typography.
I collect collections too much to the annoyance of hubby.I have a little pile of Holly Hobbie bits and pieces if you fancy a little swap?
I used to want one of these when I was a teenager, but they never had “Stephanie”, so it always bummed me out. I’ll keep my eyes out when I’m op-shopping.
LOL! I LOVE this quirky collection!
love it!!
Hi Pip, I LOVE these. I don’t think I have ever seen any, probably they are the kind of thing I would never notice individually in an oppy but I’ll be looking out for them for you from now on!

hiiii Pip… I just thought I’d drop you a line to say hello… I have a little blog about design… it’s at thedesignfiles.blogspot.com It kind of focuses a lot on Melbourne Designers… although there is international content too… Anyway I have just posted an interview with Jeweller Victoria Mason and she told me about your blog. Can’t believe I haven’t visited before now! I have linked to you… and would love your feedback if you have a chance to check out my blog sometime ๐ Also I think we have a mutual friend.. Amber? (Ginger and Jonah’s Mum?) Anyway sorry to babble. I’m bookmarking you now! ๐ Lucy x
I’ve got Warren!
But I’m afraid I’m not parting with him for love or money – he officially belongs to my partner (who is NOT called Warren, by the way), but I use it just as much as he does…..
Your collection is astounding though….. I think I shall be Charles when I come for tea…..

Every time I see one of those mugs, I’m now going to be thinking about Mikes!
This collection is ACE.
Where I work, in a University faculty, the Dean has a ‘Dean’ cup. Which I thought was pretty funny. It made me think of my Dean Martin record, ‘the Dean of Music’.
That is so funny!
that’s hilarious! can I invite myself over and be Barry? pmsl
Love them – I’ll keep my eyes peeled at the oppies for you!
