:: Thanks! Win!

February 16, 2011

Gosh. Do you know what? In the last week these things have happened::

  • I handed in BOOK THREE!!!!
  • I had a life threatening stoopid asthma attack (I am fine now!)
  • I found out my book ‘Sew La Tea Do’ will be published in France (by Hachette) and the US (by Shambhala)
  • My book ‘Meet Me at Mike’s’ is about to come out in the States
  • We sealed plans for a ‘Meet Me at Mike’s’ journal!
  • I nearly finished my bits and pieces for an upcoming crochet book by Chronicle Books
  • My project just came out in Frankie and I love it so much
  • I have nearly posted my first column over at Poppytalk
  • I found a great cute vintage location for our new book shoot
  • My Michigirl column got a LOAD of hits and love : it was about CatRabbit
  • Ari got asked to join a BMX gang
  • Rin finished her first two units of her course
  • Max organised recommendations so he can go to a new school he is totally keen on
  • Joe launched his EP!

THAT is a lot of things. In one week. Especially when I have been in bed most of the time trying to BREATHE! Gosh. I feel like a lot of these things have happened with YOUR support. Obviously not the kid things… but the other things. Because it is hard to keep working hard sometimes, esp when you don’t make a lot of money from what you do. BUT it is really easy to keep working hard when you have an awesome cheer squad of ACE people like YOU! Yes!

So thank you. I really mean it. All your get well wishes and clicks over and comments and nice words and visits and things… they mean a lot and they keep things ticking here. They do. Even those of you who don’t say anything ever…. but are there… thank you! Even those of you who I have not seen in an age…. thank you! And those who have helped in more obvious and visible ways… thank YOU too!

Let’s give something away :: If you would like to WIN a signed copy of SEW LA TEA DO and $100 worth of Mike’s handmade things (including a brooch, pendant, earrings and necklace) : just comment below before Friday midnight. I will even throw in some extra crocheted treats if you butter me up! We will draw a random winner on Saturday. AND super thanks to you for giving us a leg up and being so RAD. If you already have the book it is still fine to enter because you might want to give it to someone else who would like it! Please note that we have comment moderation turned on, but your comment will appear in order, time-stamped at the time you left it, once moderated!

xx Pip

  • Cate April 22, 2011 at 6:14 AM

That is a lot of stuff, good stuff, for just one week. IT is my 8 year old daughter's dream to join a BMX gang. I'm glad to read your chirpy words and am taking it as a sign you are feeling better. Yay!

  • little love April 22, 2011 at 6:14 AM

Wow! What a long list of awesome achievements – & all in the one week! Congratulations to you all! xx

  • Ebony April 22, 2011 at 6:14 AM

Oh wow, what a week you had! I'm glad you're okay now after your asthma attack, and yay for book THREE! Super excited! I'll be honest, my best friend gave me Sew La Tea Do (LOVING it!) for my birthday a couple months ago, so I'd love to win it so I can give one back to her 🙂 Thanks for the chance! Xx

  • meetmeatmikes April 22, 2011 at 6:14 AM

That sounds so great Ines!!! What a nice neighbourhood! You MUST start a craft group, you MUST!!! Xxx

  • Bianca Mills April 22, 2011 at 6:14 AM

Does this mean I am the first person to comment?? I don't recall ever being the first in anything!! So, yay! Looking at the list above at your weeks events I am stunned – you are a pretty amazing person to have achieved so much in the face of such a horrid health scare. It's lovely that you give props to all the people who love and support you, and it is true – having love (and having a cheer squad!) makes everything in life so much easier, but really, I think all the amazing things you achieve are mainly down to you. You could have chosen to curl up in a cozy, crocheted ball in bed and get all overwhelmed with what you had to do whilst so sick, and thrown your yarn up in the air in hopelessness, but you chose to still curl up in the crochet (because your lungs needed that!) but to do it in a way that meant you remained interested, connected and bright about what lay ahead (and kept plugging away at work things!). THIS is why I think you have so many fans, not just because you are crazily talented, but because you are so connected and motivated and bright and so good. Go Pip!

Yowsers you generous lady! I am one of the ones who never comments, but I am very appreciative of your daily creativity. I'm currently attempting to make a granny square (my first!) using your tutorial video. Yipes!
    xo

  • Lionesslady April 22, 2011 at 6:14 AM

Oh how fantastic! Pick me Pick me! I actually have your book out on loan at the moment from the library but that is nowhere near enough time for me to get all creative with it! And I must return it by the due date as their are bunches of reservations on it from other people who want your crafty goodness! With your wonderful granny square tutorial I have become ADDICTED to crochet and have been able to make so many wonderful things for friends and family! Who doesn't love handmade!!??? So glad you are feeling better too after your asthma attack. You must be desperate to get out of bed by now!

  • Pigs & Bishops April 22, 2011 at 6:13 AM

Congratulations! What a huge week. I hope you managed to get plenty of rest to feel better, though – that asthma attack sounded really scary. Does this mean your doctor is still helping you with a management plan to avoid steroid medicines?

So much book news! How exciting that your book will be published by Shambhala in the States – your in good company with all their fabulous craft authors. I'm glad you're with HG here, they do good things.

Lovely to hear that good things are happening for everyone in your family. I hope they've been taking good care and bringing you many cups of tea.

  • meetmeatmikes April 22, 2011 at 6:13 AM
