I have loved both this book and beautiful film adaptation for so long. Our latest pup is called Scout in her honour.

One of my favourite audiobooks ever was Sissy Spacek reading this book and she was just marvellous, a perfect Scout.

Yep this film rocks. Just today i heard a mother yell out to her kid (who was racing toward the road) 'Atticus!'. I was initially aghast she named her son this but then thought of the book and film and it made me smile and i thought, why the hell not?! After all, nothing can beat 'Oceania' which was shouted across the playground last weekend … and I do confess to liking the names Kit and Scout ๐

I love this movie – my nephew (also 11) and I watched it a few months ago and he was right into it – now everytime he sees old tyres he talks about getting in one to roll down a hill. I used to love to watch the old movies on the ABC when I was kid – Gregory Peck, Cary Grant – wow and I still have a thing for Jimmy Stewart. What was that old guy's name who used to introduce the movies with the teeth and glasses – he was cool too!!

I NEVER get tired of watching this movie. I think it's one of the best book to screen adaptations around. The narration, score – every frame is just perfect. Thanks for sharing.

I am totally going to come up with a cocktail. I really am.
You know, Ari was totally rivetted by this movie. He could not believe how great it was. And he's only eleven… So it's good to know that some kids will enjoy this, right? Because he really did!

I too thought you would have devised a recipe – looks like by populare demand – you are going to have to step up to the plate ๐

I love this book. It was my first high school english book and I still remember learning about similes with it. "His hand was as wide as a bed slat" ๐

A great collection of images. Saw your URL on another site and thought you were "meet meat mikes" – clicked through just out of interest ๐ – then I got the meet me at mikes part!

I have seen it so many times and I cry every. single. time. I especially adore the introduction images and Scout's humming along and I love every character in the film. I have also read the book many times and still have my battered and frayed childhood copy. Gregory Peck IS Atticus Finch. Beautiful snaps Ms Pip. Thanks x

Isn't this just levels of wonderfulness! Peck: so handsome, such a timeless movie-a true classic. To think Harper Lee only wrote one book – thank heavens it was this one.

Gorgeous stills. Look how beautiful Kit is! I must watch the movie again, it's been too long because I've been all about the book.

lovely, thought there might have been a recipe for a cocktail in there… ๐
I just bought some of these (https://shop.usps.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10001&storeId=10052&productId=10007495&langId=-1) for my dad, who idolizes Atticus Finch!
