Hello

Stitching.. and Itching… and Pitching… And Bitching….

December 3, 2007

Oh Yikesy! It has been so HOT in Melbourne.. that it’s called for windows opened.. but that has resulted in our mildy psycho neighbour’s cigarette smoke and other greenish-hoochie smelt filling our bedroom at night.. meaning a bit of (sort of) half-breathing and head-under-the-blanket escapism rather than sleeping!

PLUS the mozzies are freaking out about ari and me and feasting on our deliciousness at 2am! The other PLUS is that there was an ace movie on tv at 2.30 on Saturday night.. ‘Alice’ by Woody Allen.. starring Mia Farrow, amongst others. So ace and completely un-PC. I had turkish bread with brie and a very icy beer and snuggled under the eiderdown to watch Mia Farrow and her magic chinese Medicine Man…. Not a bad night, actually!

Then on Sunday, it was Stitching Night! Not just any, but the VERY LAST stitching night at Richmond! How strange and exciting! Thanks to all who came over the last few months! Looking forward to making your acquaintance next year too! And a special thanks to Kirsty and Rin and Brooke.. unlinked, I know.. but you ALL know who they are!

And I nearly forgot, a gorgeous wedding on Friday night for Q and R.. it was super cute.. and involved a small child burying himself in the brides amazingly embellished dress! No one was harmed, so don’tcha worry! A few tears however, amongst the sentimental!
The Mirabel window is claiming lots of fans.. and is due to come down on Friday morning… so for all of those that contributed, I really can’t thank you enough. I never expected it to be so awesome! I’m totally stoked!

Ok. I swear I’ll surface super-proper tomorrow! I’m secretly super-knackered and must sleep mozzie free tonight! I tell ya what.. I’m really enjoying nuno-plus at the moment! Awesomest Japanese fabric! Esp if you heart Shinzi Katoh. I’m only telling you that if you comment me when they update their store!

We’re up for heaps of Xmas ness this week – with two new Christmas windows to go in.. plus Xmas Shopping at Fitzroy (see side-bar for details!)! Also the Friends of the Earth Perry Street Festival is on – it’s the 16th of December, so we’re making a super heap of nice Xmas stuff for them!

xx and chat soon! (enjoy our lovely stitching night pics!)

PS – don’t forget to support your local handmade, indy, green or vintage retailers this Xmas! Don’t shop at K-Mart! Don’t just tick off your list.. .think about what you are buying! Think about Mikes, Arthurs Circus, Small Dreams, Douglas and Hope, Little Salon, Chalk in Yarraville, Circa in Fitzroy, Lulu Design in Balaclava, Corky Saint Clair, Lenko, Kids in Berlin and Curious Eidolon to name but a few in Melbourne!

PPS – WHAT happened to Iced Vo-Vos? I can’t seem to find them ANYWHERE! Have you seen them lately?

PPPS – Watch out for US next year.. we are writing a very special book about crafty peeps.. we are running a very special rockin’ out national market for crafty peeps.. and we are starting a very cute club for crafty gals in inner city Melbs…. so I am tired thinking about it… but be sure to stay tuned!

oh goodness pip I just had a look at the nuno site, it’s gorgeous! The hedgehog fabric is my favourite, and the elephant trim. I just need to learn how to sew now so I can justify buying some! Can you have a ‘sewing for beginners’ class next year, pretty please with an iced vo-vo on top?

It all sounds soooooo good! Hope it’s cool in Melbourne now. Monday was our first cool day here in Adelaide and it was wonderful. So nice to feel “chilly” after all that heat!
