i am going to stitch everything with hearts, leaves, flowers and swirls from now on!
Some nice people have lent me this sewing machine to use whilst I’m putting the book together. It came yesterday after my OLD-BUT-LOVED sewing machine wimped down to operating properly with only one stitch. It was a nice straight stitch. But sometimes, you just need to zig zag, ya know?!
Anyway, so this machine has more then one stitch. It can do a WHOLE lot of stitches. Seventy in fact. I like the one with the little hearts. And also the ric-rac stitch is nice too. I’ll test the cutest ones out and post some pics over the weekend. It also has this impressive knob which you whizz around with your finger tip and it selects the stitch. And it can thread its own needle. So I’m thinking more then one stitch is really good.
Also it hums.. my old sewing machine used to clatter and rumble. This just goes humhumhumhum…. brrrrrrrrrr…. QUIETLY. I can even hear the radio when I am sewing. (I’ve been listening to Richard Stubbs on 3LO – especially since he put my witty Carlos Santana SMS to air yesterday. He’s my homeboy now.)
I think it is TRUE LOVE. Me, Richard and the borrowed Brother.

i feel like ordering at a Chinese restaurant where i order by number, so in that case I’ll have a large 52, and a small 54 ,to go thanks…
What lovely stitches I need 70 stitches too
Let’s start the ‘Stubbsy is My Homeboy’ Facebook group, Emma!
Stubbsy is my homeboy too, what a witty single parent with great taste in funk music he is
What you can hear the radio when you sew?? what a novelty. Last night I was whipping up something on the trusty $129 KMart machine whilst Steven worked opposite me.
He just stared at me and said ‘Are you joking?’ so I had to stop. Thats what he gets for being a tightass and getting my mothers day present from KMart.
you sound like me! sewing and listening to the radio… I listen to BBC world service at night when I sew.
Have fun with the new machine!
I got your parcel today… thanks so much! the extra goodies were a lovely surprise – thankyou! I’ll post some pics later tonight.

Number 45 IS good… i think i’ll call it Spirit Fingers. I might need to bring this baby to Brown Owls so you can all have a look!
I need a new sewing machine, mine only works sometimes…. all those stitches look very exciting
hope all is going well with the book & thanks again for monday night!
Please show us some sample stitches. I’m very jealous of that whizz banging brother – I might have to look into purchasing.
You DO need 70 stitches.
I heart #45. How cute would that be on a hem?
