Hello

Softies!

September 23, 2007

I finally got off my butt and bought the Softies book on Saturday (along with the Science of Sleep DVD!)… It’s such a bright, cheery, cuddly book – chock full of wonderful projects for snuggling buddies!

I thought it might be useful to list the contributors – for those of you that don’t have the book yet! I think it’s very nice to go and visit their blogs and see the rest of their wonderful work! Congratulations to the gals that took part! Does anyone know if there is a flickr group for this one yet?

Suzie Fry
Marne Cales
Carly Schwerdt (go Carly! Woo-hoo!)
Kristina Karkov Therkildsen
Louise Hatchard
Heidi Iverson
Abigail Patner Glassenberg
Sandra Monat
Kate Henderson (so nice to meet you Kate!)
Myra Masuda (a Mikes special favourite)
Sarah Bowe
Amy Shimel
Ellen Box
Fiona Dalton (go Albert!)

This book (below) is also due for release shortly! Looks like a super special treat too!

Work is progressing at a slow steady rate over at Brunswick Street! Yesterday Brooke, Cam, Rin, Max, Ari and I put together 12 IKEA shelving units – each with five shelves.. that’s a lot of screws I tell you.. and we renamed our allen key quite regularly to other nice names such as Warren, Brian and the like! Anyway – the job got done over a picnic and some drinks.. and later a bit of marshmallows over the upstairs fire!

I’ll take some update photos in the next day or two so you can see how it’s coming along! This week we build our fitting rooms, and buy our racks, cabinets, counter and tables! How exciting!

Thanks Kirsty for the pressure hose – it did the trick and we used water responsibly! Go look at Kirstys blog about making toys for Christmas.. adorable.

I have been making lots of new little treats for the New Mikes… very exciting.. Oh.. and SPOTLIGHT has gorgeous new MUSHROOM fabric in heavy Cotton… at $12.95 a metre if you are a VIP – and in about 4 different shroomy prints (2 colourways in each print). YOU MUST GO GET SOME! IT will sell out superfast! Could this herald the beginning of Spotlight stocking Japanese style fabrics? Hoping so.

Thanks for reading – we’re in the shop today trying to make enough money to buy a gorgeous vintage cabinet for the new shop..! Dana and Belinda.. i haven’t forgotten – sorry – pinky swear I’ll fix up our little job today!

xx mikes

Aha, busted, you only had lots of children so you have mignons to slave away for you!! Part of my evil plan too. Sounds like you have mastered the flat pack shelves, well done. Love Posie

I bought that book as soon as it came out – it’s lovely! I haven’t made anything from it yet but I was going through my fabric before trying to pick out some good stuff for one of the little owls 😉

Also I have seen that Mushroom fabric in the Spotlight catalogue, I thought it was gorgeous too!

I’m glad the pressure hose worked for you & I’m jealous of the marshmallow toasting session. No open fire at our place.
