Hello Listen/Watch/Read

:: Retro Readers :: James and The Giant Peach :: Round UP!

October 6, 2011

Did you read along with us via Retro Readers?  Did you get an eyeful of Spiker, Sponge, Grasshopper and Centipede? Did you notice new things?  Or were you transported back to days of blanket forts and Vegemite Saos? Did you read with your kids? Or did you read to your boyfriend?  OR did you read alone, like me?!

If you would like to write a little review of your James and the Giant Peach experience, then DO THAT!  You can either write it on your own blog or as a note on Facebook and let us know about it.  Or you can write in the comments right here!

Tomorrow we launch a new Retro Readers book! Stay tuned!  You can join in if you would like to!  AND there is even a button for your blog to the right of this post somewhere! Thanks to Pilgrim for the button!

xx Pip

PS :: You can find me on The Design Files today with lovely Lucy and Jenny B and also on the Readings Books blog!

I read it myself like you ๐Ÿ™‚ Even thought I read it as a wee one, you know what struck me reading it as a grownup? The edge of menace that lurks in the corners of an otherwise light tale. But I think that's what kids love about Roald Dahl, right? Loving the book club and the new badge too — thanks Pip and Pilgrim!

Does listening to it on an audio book count? Possibly the best way to get across town with the Munchkin in tow. Totally enjoyed hearing it again, especially with the wonderful voices of all the different characters. However, I did read it to him about 6 months ago, so it's not really cheating.

I just want to say THANKYOU soooooo much Pip. I read all the book to my youngest (5 years old) and my two older children listened when we read it at bed times. It was fantastic. I never read much as a child and enjoyed the time, journey and laughs I shared with my children. We just finished last night, so cannot wait to see whats next! PS, I have read your blog, learned to crochet over the last year and love it. This is the first time I have ever posted a comment (anywhere). Thanks heaps, you're ACE. Gayle

I read the book myself…I consumed it. I don't think I have ever read James and The Giant Peach right to the end before…I think it ended too soon…I loved it though and thought it quite naughty in bits too…really looking forward to the next book!
