In honour of our poor flooded Gippsland neighbours – these illustrations are from a book first published in 1965 – ‘The Rain Puddle’ by Roger Duvoisin.
(I was scared of this book when I was little. I hated the way the animals were so dumb and vain. And they seemed pointy and unfriendly too. Now.. I LOVE THIS BOOK! I love the yellow cow. I love the Warhol owl. I love the blue sheep. I love their general spiky running-aroundness. I wonder how I could ever have hated it! Go figure.)
I have been to the market this morning.. stocking up on cheese and bagels and bacon and brownies and jam donuts and polish sausage and all that is good…. Planning to spend the day popping in and out of the shop, feeding my hungry children, making pincushions and generally mooching about.
At Mikes today we have new ‘Useful Vintage Paper Packs’ and also new ‘Vintage Fabric Scrap Bags’ and a few more bundles of Vintage Fabric half metres too.
Wishing you happy mooching-day too! Don’t forget to pop over to Flickr and see our updated vintage illustration collection!
xx Mikes
