:: Radelaide Retro…

July 18, 2011

I really like searching for these kind of homes on those big real estate sites. This one is in Adelaide.  How amazing is it?!!  Loving the sea grass matting.  Loving the wallpaper.  Loving the special bedrooms.  Totally time-warpy, for sure!

xx Pip

    My best friend has a beautiful Art Deco house here in Adelaide that he & his partner have renovated, & they've done their bathroom in a 1930s style similar to the tiles in this pic – except their bathroom is pale green, black & white. It looks great!

    The bathroom is just like my father-in-laws except his is black and pink. The kitchen was similar till it was redone recently! This home is amazing. No modern influence has infiltrated after all these years!
    thanks for sharing! xo G

    I've just bought a little old lady house by the see in the UK that looks a bit like that. Only not as nice.

    Ha, I would totally get one of those funky wallwapers… I think in this context it's okay to use "funky", righ?

    Wow – I am in equal parts attracted and repelled – nostalgia works in funny ways….

    I want a lilac tiled bathroom so bad now! Just amazing.

    That bathroom is almost I identical to mine. Well was…. The floor fell in and we had to re do it.

    You do realise that being Adelaide it is possible that the owners don't think it is retro at all?! Some South Australians are living in a permanent time warp. I can say that with sincere affection and a wink since I wasn't born there and only reside there because of my husband ๐Ÿ˜‰

    Oh my. We once went house-hunting in Adelaide, it has the most amazing trapped-in-time houses!

  • Dolores July 18, 2011 at 11:00 AM

    It's so great to see an original. I just can't get over the price for that size land. Sydney is insanely expensive.

    Wowsers! My parents still have and use the oil heater like the one in the loungeroom! They bought it second hand in 1975!

  • Vic July 18, 2011 at 10:02 AM

    It's just so pristine isn't it? I'm tempted to ask them if they have any open days lined up so I can go have a look inside. ๐Ÿ™‚
