:: The Pom Pom Project!

July 7, 2011

Hey!

Would you like to make some Pom Poms?!  We are collecting pom poms.  And we are going to make a super cute window display with them.  Would you like to help?  Here is how to make a pompom!   (The pompoms need to be woolly ones, not paper ones!)  You can find lots of video how-tos here, too! Tee-hee!  They can be any colour!  And they need to be at least 4 inches in diameter (so make your cardboard circle at least that big!)   Below is how to join in!  They can be UP to 6 inches wide!

Let me know in the comments if you want to join in!  I would LOVE it if you did!  The more pompoms the better! We need them by August 1st!  Get pom pommy with me! Go on!!  I will show you the pom poms as they arrive, so write a little note, if you care to!

xx Pip

My pom-pom went out in the mail about a week ago! I almost couldn't part with it. I'm hoping it arrives in time! It's coming from Massachusetts in the US, so it quite a distance to travel.

  • Pip July 28, 2011 at 11:00 AM

Remember we are collecting Pom Poms until August 1! And a few later arrivals will be appreciated too! x

  • Carmel's Closet July 28, 2011 at 10:57 AM

Are you still collecting pom poms?

Hooray. Somewhere to share my daughter's obsession. I'll ask her in the morning if she's willing to part with some. She makes then for everyone.

Started my grade 6 class off on the pom-pom run today. Its a great Friday afternoon activity and generated lots of conversation – unfortunately most of my time was spent undoing knots. When would you like these by? And the kids would like a photo of the front of the shop for inspiration. I'm already looking towards a 'softies for mirabel' activity with them.

Was hoping that hubbie would think pom-pom delivery was a legitimate reason to fly to Melbourne, sadly no πŸ™‚ Will post a pom's pom-pom from Auckland today.

Would you like one of our vintage fabric pom poms? They're very sweet if we do say so ourselves πŸ™‚ I'll send it to you to see if you love it too

  • gerrycan July 17, 2011 at 10:30 PM

I decided I'd join the mission and have made my first pompom ever. I remember as a kid winding doughnut holes but never making the cut and tieing it off to finish the deed! Today I have and am so pleased with the result. WIll make a few and drop them off before the end of the month. Thanks for the joy of pompoming. Gerry

I'm exited about making a few pom poms! I am on night duty tonight and have bought my pom pom making things with me. Damn I forgot my scissors! We have searched the ward for scissors and have produced what I think is a really cute pom pom but it is a fraction too small!! Back to it!!

    Hi Pip,

My 9 year old was reading over my shoulder, and said 'Hey, I can do that!'. Add his enthusiasm with school holidays, and I think you will have a couple of pom-poms winging your way very soon.

I'd love to join in. Do the pom poms have to be out of wool or can we use other yarns as well. I have some scraps I'd like to use but they're not all wool.
