Do you know what my favourite thing to do is? Be in a room full of people and talk to them/teach them something creative. Yep. It’s what I was born to do. I love it so much I want to burst. But I won’t. Because that would be weird.
This morning I ran a workshop at West Elm Chapel St. It was called Pip’s Petals and I showed a bunch of completely delightful ladies how to make paper flowers. My approach to these kinds of workshops is to arm people with the basics and encourage them to go wild and make the basics their own. That is JUST what these ace types did.
I showed them how to make a fluffy flower, which would become the middle of another flower if they made it a titch smaller. Then we talked about putting petals on flowers, how many petals flowers might need and the best ways of keeping all the bits and bobs in place.
We also chatted a lot, drank coffee, snacked on delicious things from #TEAMCHYKA’S catering company and generally made friends.
I always get A LOT MORE out of these things than the attendees, I reckon. I make friends, I witness other people’s fabulous talents and good humour AND I learn things about being a better teacher too. It’s the best.
