Hello

A One Pack Year

April 29, 2008

Yesterday… was Max’s 12th birthday… we had a 6am wake-up, presents in front of last night’s still-a-tiny-bit-alive-fire (which we fed with the newspaper Brooke and Chris had artfully wrapped Max’s presents in) – then birthday boy’s favourite Breakfast Burritos, followed by School (with two cakes – one chocolate and one with pink icing) and home for a bit of present play.

I noted (a little tearfully) that the metallic birthday candles Cam bought came in 12 pack. Do they do that on purpose…. just to create a bit more teen drama on that 13th birthday? Imagine all those parents standing in the supermarket gulping down the fact that this (the thirteenth birthday) is their first TWO PACK year!

Then out for dinner at mother-in-law-from-previous-relationship Dur-e’s Nudel Bar. We ate… Macaroni Cheese, Buckwheat Noodles with Prawns and Soused Spinach, Potato Curry and Roti, Gado Gado, Green Tea Noodles with Smoked Salmon, Squid Ink Spaghetti, Seafood Laksa and even more deliciousness! You should go there – not cheap, but HUGE yummy serves.

Next a walk to the car… where we bumped into BINDI IRWIN and TERRI IRWIN coming out of Guys and Dolls! Who woulda thunk it!?! I squeaked ‘Hi Bindi’ and she said ‘Hiiiiii!’ right back with a shy smile. The boys were pretty stoked (even though they aren’t really Bindi fans) – i think it constituted a perfect end to a pretty crash-hot day!

Happy Birthday Maxy Boy! Paula reminded me that one day you guys will read this – when you’re a bit older – so I just want you to know that you are just ultra-good. Really. You couldn’t get a better Max. You’re gold. I can’t wait to see how great you turn out! Because you are pretty super-dooper already! Who could improve on that?!
xx pip (mum) Mike
