:: The One About Embroidering Leaves and Bill Cosby

April 24, 2012
Don’t you want to embroider a leaf like this
Pretty amazing, no? Way back when Meet Me At Mike’s was born, it was all about embroidery.  The craft movement was going on in Melbourne behind closed doors or at blog meets or Etsy meets, even.  But there wasn’t much in the loud and proud crafty arena for the modern girl.
Things are so so so different now.
I really do love to think about Ye Good Olde Days. I met so many wonderful people who are still part of my life.  I learned how to do good stuff. I worked out how to gather people together and craft for the greater good.  I got a publishing deal. And I was flat broke!
I know, that’s kinda funny to bring up, but in so many ways it did not matter because I felt pretty rich in so many other ways.  That said, six years on, I am so glad that my crafty apprenticeship has resulted in such great opportunities which FINALLY pay the rent.  And not only that, they do it without me having to sell out TOO much. LOL.
Soon I’m going to put ads on my blog, so I can get some important stuff done for my family, but really this retrospective is not about that, but rather about thanking everyone who has supported me so freaking loyally and with so much enthusiasm.  Things have changed so much since those early days. I’ve grown up a lot and my blog has grown up too.  I’ve been a bit scared to take the leap into professional blogging on Meet Me At Mike’s… but I am thinking if I do, I can do SO MUCH MORE good stuff.
So I’m here to say that it’s all going to happen. Slowly, but surely, and it’s all thanks to you.
I hope I do you proud.
I hope you embroider a leaf sometime, too. Embroidery is so ace.
xx Pip
PS : I am guest blogging about friends on Gourmet Girlfriend today : and there’s a GREAT giveaway on my post over there too!!!

Political scandals are hard to outline having an actual definition. Whilst there’s no set conditions for what qualifies something like a poltiical scandal, there is some wide requirements. While you can imagine nearly anything that’s released that in…

    Embroidered leaves- yes
I have a book of crochet & knitted flowers beckoning me for two years. No groove to craft yet but I love all your inspiration and your recipes have been brilliant and practical and yummo.
Ads, you gotta make a living, full stop .

Lady, you put a lot of work into your blog – you deserve to make some $ from it – bring on the ads! Oh and yes, of course I want to embroider leaves like that someday!

I wouldnt worry too much Soule Mama does it in a non intrusive way her blog still feels intimate and personal and without the income form advertising we would probably be without some of the resources that she provides her audiences.
Yes, you may lose some people but you will gain new audiences too as well as maintaining the loyal ones so I think go for it!

PS: loved your daughter Rins wedding it was lovely to see thanks for sharing it with us.

I hope to give embroidery a try one day too! I've loved reading your blog, and I don't think selling ad space is selling out if it's for like-minded people/products. I say good luck to you xo
