Hello

More Jingly Stuff..

December 13, 2007

When we were wee…. we had these really lovely ‘Angel Chimes’.. they are a little apparatus, with candles and a sweet chiming angel-y bit at the top. The heat of the candles makes the angels swing around and chime… I used to think they were the MOST gorgeous thing EVER….. I must get some for our house this Christmas… not sure where though…

When you are a retailer, you are looking after everyone elses Christmas in a BIG way… so you really have to make the effort to keep feeling Xmassy in your private home time – instead of doing the BAH HUMBUG thing!

Last night we had ‘Olive the Other Reindeer’ and tonight we had a lovely friend for dinner and we had a wreath making activity too! I bought a polystyrene ring from AFS in Johnston Street.. and swung by the Salvos on Victoria St (where I got 2 bags of Christmas Baubles for $6)… then hot glue gun meets baubles meets poly ring… and presto.. a super-dinky Wreath! I’ll take some pics tomorrow when it’s super dry… the boys really had fun.. and only one injury with the glue gun… Xmas perfection!

Tomorrow is Richmond PS Presentation Night.. a night of tears and graduations and Christmas stuff too! Can’t wait.

I’ll be making sure to be Christmassing up EVERY SINGLE DAY until the 27th of December! So watch out for me!

xx mikes

ok this is more than a bit belated, but we had one of those too! i have no idea where it came from, but gosh we loved it.

Oh, I forgot to say this: if you have Ikea over there, they might sell it in this period of the year. I bought one for friends there, a few years ago.

As a child, I could stare at the candles for ages and listen to the bells… This truly captures the spirit of X-mas for me! It must be somewhere on our attic, and I want to start looking for it right away.

Oh anette! thanks for that tip! i think i missed the boat! i will be sure to get some post-christmas and have them all over the shop and house next christmas! (sorry juanita ding-ding-no-likey! I’ll blow them out when you’re in the shop!)

Hi! I know where you can buy them, at the Swedish church in Melbourne (George St, Toorak). They sell them at their Christmas bassar every year, even the little candles that fits them. Maybe you can contact them and see if you can still buy them even if the bassar was (and is) first weekend in December. Here is their webb address, they have info in English too. http://skut.svenskakyrkan.se/melbourne/

    Good Luck!
    Anette 🙂

Can you believe I was just going to do a post about this? It was one of my most beloved Christmas decorations when I was little, so I was overjoyed when I found them at London’s Liberty a couple of weeks ago. Snatched one up straight away, but the candles burn so fast. Need to find the right sized replacements asap. Let me know if you want me to send you one! xx

We had one of those when we were kids too, and a couple of years ago my gran gave me one for Christmas. I haven’t done any Christmas decorations so maybe I’ll just get that out and that can be my one slacker decoration for this year 🙂

We had one! I loved how they sounded, especially when the candles would really heat up and they’d get going really fast. I remember it was always a little difficult to set up though. Thanks for the memory!

We had one of these when we were kids too. Like Juanita my mum couldn’t stand the noise so it just looked pretty & we could IMAGINE what the bells might sound like.

    Hiya Pip
We have one of these set up at our house!
I don’t light the candles cos the ‘ding, ding, ding’ drives me nuts.
