My darling friend, Emma Greenwood of Aprons and Hammers has transported her studio to Craft Victoria. As part of A Month About Making, she’ll be working away on her shoemaking and leatheriness as this week’s resident artist at Craft Vic. She’ll be there until the 30th of August. You MUST pop in and visit her whilst you are in the city. Hurry hurry! She’s a super-lovely darling girl and she’d love to meet YOU! She’s not a tossy temper-tantrum arty type, I swear. Super nice and approachable, is Emma. You might like to take her a biscuit or something. Surely she’s working up an appetite.
The following is an excerpt from Craft Victoria’s own website.

OPEN BENCH RESIDENCIES
A Month About Making explores the material and conceptual nature of the making process inherent in craft and design. The purpose of the Open Bench residencies is to showcase the making process in a dynamic and fluid context. Artists will create a studio space in Craft Victoria’s Gallery Three, working within their medium to produce a body of finished pieces. Each of the three participating artists will be in residence for one week.
In Week Four, the three residents will collaborate to curate an exhibition of the finished works. The Gallery Three space will function as a palimpsest, the material trace of one residency working its way into the next and culminating in a collective installation.

“Part of the process involves letting things take me where I hadn’t anticipated; relinquishing control can be difficult, but unexpected results are usually the most compelling.”
Craft Victoria is at 31 Flinders Lane, Melbourne City.
