Hello

Making The Book! Behind The Scenes

April 1, 2009

Our book took three days to photograph, and they were three fun packed, exhausting days. In these photos you can probably spy Tim James (our photographer), Serap (our lovely model), Simone Elder (our designer), Ellie from Hardie Grant and Cam. We also had lovely Olive on the shoot (she’s the adorable baby featured!) We borrowed Julie’s house for two days, as well as using Mike’s for a day. Mary from Hardie Grant is hiding somewhere out of these shots too!

It was really great working with a team of people who all shared the same vision – and I think you can see that in the pages. It all came together very naturally – and there’s a real consistency to the photos which ties the whole thing together beautifully. Yay great team of people!

Below you’ll find the list of all the clever folk who contributed projects to the book. There’s everything from how to make a contemporary quilt, to how to make a softie cow. You’ll find projects involving paper, printing, yarn, sewing, embroidery and more. And there are instructions on all the basics, as well as full size ready to go patterns. You can jump right in with our book – even if you’ve never made anything before!

A hugest ever thank you to the following crafty people – go and visit their blogs and see how great they all are!

I got my copy of the book today at Borders in Canberra. I am looking forward to it as an Easter treat.

What it was doing in the ‘Interior Decorating’ section I am not sure, but I guess it was just around the corner from the ‘craft’ section.

I received my copy of your book the other day and I must say it is fantastic.
Well done to you and all the contributors.

    Hi Pip

I’m loving your new book, I made my first project from it on the weekend (I’d only had the book for one week – that’s a record for me – I’ve got books that I’ve had to years that I’m still meaning to make from). It was easy and fun and the little girl who got it as a present smiled as soon as she saw it. I made Loobylu’s wheat friend but with stuffing instead of wheat.

I had a thought, it might be nice to have a flickr pool for people to upload photos of projects they have made from your book?

Thanks for the lovely book, I’m looking forward to my next project!

    Cheers
    Shannon

Hi Pip! I had the pleasure of seeing your book for the first time today, and I can’t wait to buy it! I also love to sew and create things, and making a book is something i aspire to do. I just wanted to say how inspirational you are, and how beautiful your book is, and everything that fills your life really! I really hope that one day I will open a shop, and publish a book, so that I can bring people as much happiness as you do!!
    Love Renee.

I love behind the scenes stuff so this is great. Now you just need a Meet Me at Mikes dvd with a making of, out takes and bloopers. I would LOVE that!
