I’ve Got One Word For You… Blood Orange

Okay. You got me. It’s two – but had you been at my place tonight, not only would you have got to pat the mouse (so to speak – her name is ‘Nibbles’), sample a cracker or two with a delightful morsel of cheese upon it, or draw on rather large pieces of paper on the shop floor… No.. . that’s not all… You would ALSO have got to sample our deliciously cheery blue cups bubbling with champagne and blood orange juice. Moreish. Refreshing. So fruitily meaty for a Champagne Cocktail. I like ’em.

You see, today while I could have been helping in the shop, I was thinking only of your sipping pleasure. While I might have been finishing our wholesale orders, I was pondering the perfect tipple. While I should have been sorting the laundry, I was merrily scouring Fitzroy with $7 in my pocket, in search of Blood Orange Juice (NOT an easy task – finally found at Alimentari)…

I must say, it was completely worth it, you’re worth it and Champagne and Blood Orange juice is in fact worthy of it’s own Postcode as far as I’m concerned. Perhaps some bunting. A wee parade could be nice too. Thanks to those of you who were kind enough to sip Mike’s Drink De Jour – whilst marvelling at it’s deliciousness. Super good it was.

Next week.. we’ll be serving Pointsettias (which are not only a startlingly festive plant – they are a lovely drink) and Pastizzi. Things beginning with P is the perfect theme for late night shopping, don’t you think.

(But not all P things. Just the nice ones, right? So don’t be flicking through the dictionary past ‘porno*&aphy’ and ‘plonk’ and ‘puree’ with that frown on your face. It’s only about nice things here at Mike’s.)
