Hello

'Inspiration, Information'!

December 29, 2007

Packing.. wow… it’s so much fun… such a good opportunity to sort things out (right?) and take stuff to the Salvation Army (right?!) and give things away to friends (right?!!). Oh yikes… just one room at a time… one day at a time….

Q – WHY do i have so many books? WHY do i have so many magazines? WHY do we have so many records? WHY do we have so many dvds?

A – BECAUSE we are CULTURE-HOLICS. We are crazy about filling our senses with the most beautiful stuff we can. Every day.

“My name is Pip. I am a culture-holic. I like to look at nice pictures whenever I can. I like to read good books whenever I can. I like to listen to great music whenever I can. I like to watch beautiful movies whenever I can. And when I’m not doing that – i’m on the internet finding out about the books, music, movies and pictures that make other people tick. I fear it’s incurable. And, in fact… I really like it. I’m hoping to become one of the great culture-holics”.

Perhaps some of you are on the same wrong-side-o-the-tracks crazy ride I’m on. Toot your horn if you are. I reckon I’m surely in good company.

Toot Toot!

xx mikes

Taph made up a new word yesterday which you might just need:

Cultuvorian. Definition: A person who consumes culture. Preferably for free (or very little!)

And now I have “Won’t you ever grow up little Toot” running through my head. Cheers!

    toot!
I have to move soon too, so I’ve also had to start de-cluttering. I’ve only been in my apartment for less than 2 years but I’ve already managed to collect piles and piles of magazines and books… many of which are hard to let go of. *sigh*

    ps. happy new years!

I’m a complete tragic when it comes to collecting books, CDs and DVDs…I wish I could stop but I’m starting to accept that I will not change this part of myself. Best wishes for the new year!

Yeah, toot, we’ve lugged some of our books and movies to and from the UK four times now in sea containers when we’ve moved back and forth, and sometimes we’ve had to make decisions to leave useful stuff, like tables and chairs behind, to fit them all in! Last time we moved we didn’t pack any plates or glasses, gave them all to charity to make room, but at least we had something to read when we arrived! Only once have we ever had a serious clearout of books and we’ve regretted it ever since, sob…
