June 26, 2011

Do you have anything that you would like Mike’s readers to know about?  Important things that are going on? Great things you have made? Events? Awesome stuff that you (or someone you know) have written?  Why don’t you post a link below so we can all take a peek?

xx Pip

I'm way late to this post, but just wanted to comment about my website… it's at http://www.violetsaid.com and contains heaps of accessories, jewellery, trinket boxes and other stuff I've crafted this year. If you like things with an emphasis on cute and pretty than you may well like Violet Said! Thanks πŸ™‚

Love Meet Me At Mike's btw… visited a few years ago and sooo want to go to Melbourne again. Such a pretty, creative city.

    Hi,

We're organising a 'Baby and Kids Goodie Swap' to raise funds for the Oncology Children's Foundation' in Thornbury on July 16th. The idea is to bring along things your kids have outgrow/don't use anymore, and swap them for something else.

You can see more information on the event here: http://www.community.ettitude.com.au/swap/

I am a part of the Multicultural Women’s Sewing Group in Brunswick.

Where women can come and learn to sew, work on their own projects, and have a cup of tea and chat. We welcome children and this allows a lot of ladies to enjoy the group.

We are having a few projects on during the school holidays and are always looking for some extra volunteers to help out with the kids, sewing or just helping pack up.

You can learn more about us at http://www.sewgroup.blogspot.com
if you would like to join in on the projects or lend a helping hand!

    Hello!

I've just created a new range of cushions, teatowels and hankies featuring paintings by me and my Mum – there are apples and peacocks and flowers and teacups… and I still have a head full of ideas.

To have a look, go to http://www.shinyhappyart.com

Join the mailing list to win a one off cushion I'm making at the moment. It's drawn on 15 July.

I also give $1 per hanky sold to the Scarlett Kisses Project, supporting bereaved mothers.

    Thanks for this opportunity Pip!

I love seeing what other's are up to, and finding new blogs! Summer has been in full swing around here. I have plans of things I want to accomplish. I have finally started dabbling back in watercolors. I hope to get some prints made of my pics, knock on wood. With three kiddos, I work slowly. No worries, though. We are enjoying doing alot of relaxing.

  • Anonymous June 27, 2011 at 11:14 AM

I just made these 2 pics for my friends brand new twin girls born just days ago!
Their names are Saskia and Luella, hence the 'S' and the 'L'
The buttons are special, my bff brought them back from a flea market in Berlin years ago and the lace in both top left hand corners is handmade by a family friends grandmother and is about 100 years old. They are my first collage picture things and I loved making them! http://www.flickr.com/photos/qotfu/5876234239/

Thank you so much for this opportunity to share. I have recently started a blog about all the things I love, the simple things that make you smile and appreciate life. For me it is red doors, beautiful fabrics, vintage furniture, bees in my fox gloves, interiors, Danish sofas, unique shops, the Adelaide Hills, simple but tasty recipes, pretty gardens… Feel free to take a look at http://www.notthebigthings.blogspot.com. Thank you so much. Have a wonderful week. Kelly

    Hi Pip,

Thanks for this wonderful opportunity to reach some crafty people. Only exciting thing here is that I have just listed my beloved NZAK Circular Sock Knitting Machine on ebay! These machines are too brilliant, cranking out socks this way has been happening in the UK and USA since WWI when women were trained to quickly make high quality socks for the soldiers. Search ebay and have a look as I can't link….being a complete luddite!
    Thanks
    Annie

Hi all… I print my illustrations onto upcycled fabric… tablecloths, old curtains, discarded dresses, pillowcases. A bit of sewing detail is added & they are framed in an embroidery hoop. I love it! Currently extending my 'Walk a Mile' series & looking for great shoe-clad feet pictures… you could win a Gretel Girl illustration & have fabulously famous feet! Hi Pip

I recently made some gorgeous aprons from vintage fabrics "inherited" from my Aunty Edna. So now I have a little shop at http://www.madeit.com.au/Jubilee.Road

And today I have been cutting some more fabrics for my 1930's style hand-pieced (yep, I might just be crazy) queen bed size quilt. It is my least favourite part of the process, but I know that the end result will be worth every measurement πŸ™‚

Love getting your emails every day; somethimes it is just what I need to cheer me up.

  • Hi, I'm Chris June 27, 2011 at 3:49 AM

I've put my first free downloadable pattern on my blog. It's Redmond the Kangaroo and if you like working with felt, and jazzing things up with beads or buttons and like pot pourri then you might like to take a gander at Redmond. He's easy enough to make that it might be a good project for the kids or someone who is perhaps not well and stuck in bed but well enough to have a fiddle with some easy stitching. Redmond loves to hang on a door handle, or in a cupboard or in the dunny if you want.

  • Lauren June 27, 2011 at 3:32 AM

  • Angela June 27, 2011 at 3:24 AM

    Hi there Pip!

I am rethinking my attitude towards fashion. I want to have a simpler wardrobe with a focus on quality rather than quantity instead of buying copious quantities of disposable fashion. Part of this new approach involved taking an honest look at the current state of my wardrobe, which I dubbed The Closet Cleanse.

You can read about it here: http://www.angelaosborn.com.au/closet-cleanse/

  • Hi, I'm Chris June 27, 2011 at 3:15 AM

I've got my very first free pattern download of Redmond the Kangaroo if anyone likes to sew with felt and decorate with fancy buttons and stuff with pot pourri. Redmond is happy to be hung anyway, in a wardrobe, on a door know even in the dunny if you want. A nice little project that even the kids could do.

What a great idea!! I love checking out all the blogs and happenings πŸ™‚

Not much going on here. I been taking pictures of different churches down the street outside my neighborhood. There's like 16 different churches in 3.2 miles (5 km) and no two are alike. I think all the diversity is cool.

My current project is too new for sharing yet.
But i recently made a MAP of "Brunswick-opolis" inspired by Ms Lincolne's map of Fitzroy.

Type "Brunswick-opolis" into google and all will be revealed.
It is always being updated and (grr) last couple of links show me all the text but not to you dear-readers so am working on getting it fixed.

LOVE to see a map on other folks areas… local secrets/best op shops/best grafitti.

Cant wait to get home so I can read everyone's links!

Thank you Pip for this opportunity to share!

I'm involved in a social program bringing life planning and finance to life to 10,000 young women (18-40) around Australia and setting a ripple effect in motion to raise $1 million towards a microfinance program to help women globally.

The 10thousandgirl Campaign runs Life Planning workshops in country and metro areas bringing together like-minds in a fun and light-hearted environment.

We also encourage women to set up GIGs (Girl Investment Groups), a bookclub like set up, to do the Personal Finance Program.

It is a magical, inspiring community to be involved in to increase our own knowledge and empower ourselves while helping those around us.

For more info or to find out more about workshops or GIGs have a look at http://www.10thousandgirl.com
