I had a most outstanding night at Brown Owls last night! It was super fun and completely unstructured. Everyone brought their own project to work on.. and we all did a little show and tell (well i didn’t, I was too busy eating biscuits) of what we were up to. Really lovely crafty stuff was on show, lots of very good cross-stitchers.. and knitting… and embroidery… and even bookbinding! It was fantastic!
Heaps of Arnotts best, heaps of craftiness, heaps of cups of tea, heaps of chatter and jokes… it was my favourite Brown Owls so far!!!! I still can’t get over the bookbinding…. I’m a bit awl-struck. Ha ha… That, my friend, is a bookbinders joke.
It was super good to see everyone.. regular faces and some new ones too! And we really missed the Southside girls who couldn’t make it! They were representing at home with the kids for Brown Owls, in various stages of health and busy-ness!
About the log… after Brown Owls, I drop Brooke at her house and then by the time I get home, the house is still and silent and it’s about eleven o clock. On other Brown Owls nights, I’ve gone upstairs to catch the last half hour of Project Runway, only to be greeted with dimly glowing coals on the open fire, and no wood in sight.
But not last night.. Oh no.. I’m smarter then that. I grabbed a cold bottle of Asahi, and the dinner that Cam had left on the counter for me… and with the other hand, swung a log under my arm. I steadied myself and checked my load. Yep. I, was the log lady. I headed up. Sure enough.. no wood in site, except my little log friend under my arm. I deftly swung him onto the coals.. and voila.. the perfect end to a perfect night! Thanks lovely Brown Owls girls!
