The devastating floods in Queensland are happening as I write. Please donate to the Flood Appeal here.
People have died and many more are missing. The predictions are that things are going to get worse in Brisbane and Ipswich today. More information here.
A few people have emailed me about beginning some sort of crafty relief effort via Handmade Help. You might remember that the Handmade Help site was the portal for lots of different projects to benefit the victims of the Black Saturday bushfires in Victoria.
I was wondering if there are people out there who would be interested in taking the reins on this. It’s a job for a few people, and you only need to do what you think you can do. My book is due in four weeks and regrettably I just don’t have any time at all for any other work, however important 🙁 I wish I did.
Please send me an email if you have ideas about how the craft community can work together on this : raising money or awareness, gathering donations (monetary or otherwise) or making things that may be useful to people once things dry out and are a bit clearer.
My email is meetmeatmikes at gmail dot com.

Hi Pip,
I wonder whether you might consider extending this wonderful effort to all Aussie flood victims, not only those in Queensland. 80% of our Central Victorian town was inundated by flood waters on 14th January, my home amongst them. Most of us did not have flood insurance. It makes us a little sad that all of the fund raising in focussed on Queensland and not on those of us down here in the same position.
Just a thought.

I wholeheartedly agree with you Jeanne!
It would be great if everyone considered a donation to the Red Cross
