Here are my first 9 squares for A Granny A Day! I did crochet a traditional granny square first up, but then I decided I liked these simpler squares a lot, so I am going to make a little pram blanket out of these when I am up to 12 squares!
If you know how to crochet, you can make a Granny A Day (or a Granny A Week!) with me! If you don’t know you can learn how right here! Look here for the video how-to link!
Do you like my squares?! This blanket will be for Brooke’s baby Spike! Are there lots of babies in your life at the moment?! Phew. There are LOTS in mine!
xx Pip

Love this idea! I am in the process of making my first granny square blanket!
Thank you so much for your crochet tutorials, they have been my main resource while learning to crochet, and have been so so helpful!
I was also wondering what size hook and what type of wool you used, but I see that has been answered above. This is the area I have had trouble with while learning, how to combine the size of hook with the type of wool and how different combinations affect the look and feel of the Granny Square.
Those squares look so cute, I am going to try one!
Lovely! I just signed up! Very excited! I love doing things like this as a community! π http://www.gomumma.blogspot.com
they look great! i still need a little practice.
Love those squares Pip, very classy. Might have to borrow that idea for my neutrals just to lift them a bit π
Very inspiring Pip! I think with your tutorials I could almost give this a go!

Love these! I love the way the colour really POPS against the charcoal background, the blanket is going to look wonderful π
Hello Miss Pip, this looks awesome. I am about to start learning (from your tute), is the 3.5mm hook ok for a beginner? And I don't know much about yarn, is there a certain weight/something-or-other?? Thanks for your advice!
Ang.
They're lovely Pip!
I'm new to crochet but I do love Granny Squares cos they're so easy! I can't wait to see how these look when you join them together! I haven't before seen a colour pattern like you've used!
great combination of colours!!
Hello! I use a 3.5mm hook! And I use a yarn called Moda Vera Peony (that is the grey!) and some oddments for these! I am very happy to use acrylic as well as wool! xxx
Love your fresh take! Jx
Hi Pip, lovely blanket, could you tell me what kind of wool you use please and the size of hook?
Thanks!
I just can't wait to see how you are going to join them π
These squares look great! I think the baby blanket will look fantastic! ^_^
At my next CWA meeting we're doing Crochet for beginners. I'll need to bone up with your video tutorials! One a week seems more feasible for me. π
They are super easy! You crochet a regular granny square in one colour : just do FIVE rounds. Then change to your accent/bright/pastel contrasting colour : crochet one round in this colour. Then change back to the original colour for one final round! SUPER easy and not so many loose yarn ends to weave in later! Yay!
I am following your granny square tutorial videos – they are the only one's I have found that work for me! I love these squares though, how do you do them? Simpler sounds better to me! I'm (attemepting) to make a little pram blanket for a friend having a baby π
Lovely colours. I might dig mine out from last winter and make some attempt at finishing it this year!
oops! I am getting behind!! These look great, Pip!!
Very nice! And I love your color choices!
