Hello

Flashback Friday

November 8, 2007

I’m thinking this is not want Angela meant when she called it Flashback Friday.. so I’ve added a modesty grass skirt – just to keep it nice. But really… DON’T take pictures like this of your children. You may be arrested. In the 70s however, we were all flower children with plastic furniture and paintings of nude ladies on the wall.. so it was fine.

xx mikes

(I think my theme this week is the ‘Number 9 and Silly Hats’)

Oh PIp , My parents had very arty black and white nude women wall paper in their bedroom. Every single time we had a visitor we snuck their kids in to giggle at it!

My Nan was the QUEEN of crocheted dresses – I had them in lots of colours, always to be worn with ribbed tights and patent t-bar shoes. Pigtails optional.

I love that dress – and the mary-janes!

  • Kirsty October 5, 2007 at 5:12 AM

I wish I’d had a crochet dress – it was just hand knitted jumpers for me which at the time I hated -what a fool!

  • boobook October 5, 2007 at 1:43 AM

Oh my gosh, I had forgotten about crotcheted dresses. How cute but I never had any for me or my daughter (Thank goodness)

Wow, she did a great job making crochet dresses! You look so cute! I must say I am very impressed with two Flashback Friday photos in two consective weeks.

I am so impressed I have nominated you to suggest our theme for next week. Keep in mind however that themes such as ‘Tuna and Thumbs-ups’ may prove difficult for some ; )

Hey guys! I actually managed to do this on the right day, this time! Still lacking in the theme department, however, sorry angela!

I’ve been busy ordering books and packing fabric and buying pretty colourful dresses for the new shop.. and it’s all coming together nicely. We think we will be open Thursday week. How exciting. Fitting rooms being built on Tuesday – painting to be finished next week… signage on the way from the UK…

(Ari took my camera batteries for his gameboy – but I promise I will take some update photos in the next day or two.)

Thanks Emma for your tip yesterday.. I realised we just don’t have time to take it up today.. but it’s at the TOP of my LIST!

Thanks to the Craft Fairy… who delivered dinner for us overworked Mikeskateers yesterday. Such a good friend. Sigh. Thanks Brooke for my prezzie!

And just look at these babies playing Mikes Hammond organ! Thanks to Market Baby for that delightful excitement!

Ok.. gotta run.. I am still in my dressing gown (and on my 3rd cup of tea)… and its FRIDAY!

    xx mikes

ps – if you come to Mikes today, i promise i WON’T be in my dressing gown!

  • Dana September 28, 2007 at 1:22 AM

Awwww – see? there’s something for everyone at Mikes! Mahlie looooved that organ…

    Hey there!
Thanks for putting up with me wandering around the shop for at least an hour today, it was so yucky and miserable outside I regretted leaving immediately. I’m now figuring out how to make my music sheets look pretty with all the other junk I have lying around
It was so nice to meet you I can’t wait to come back, maybe even for a stitching night 😉

  • Kylie July 26, 2007 at 11:55 PM

Oh love the tights and the black patent shoes! To cute and look at those blonde locks.
