Fashion. I DO like clothes, but I’ve sort of lost the fashion bug lately. I’m not sure whether someone snuck it away in one of those 1970s bug catchers.. or if it flew away when I wasn’t looking, but the thing is I really haven’t been bothered to buy an actual fashion mag for ages. Which is a bit of a turnaround for me.
Recovering magazine junkie that I am, I never was one to snap up the latest Mr Chi-Chi-Designed thang. However, I have always loved to reinterpret that highbrow fashiony stuff in my own way, with vintage and second hand pieces. Until recently. I’m not sure what happened… perhaps it was the advent of the highwaisted jean. Perhaps it’s the current fixation with leggings-as-pants. Perhaps it’s something to do with my hips. The bottom line is, me and fashion haven’t been playing nicely of late.
BUT.. yep.. you knew there was a but. ( You know I’m one for a happy ending, right?!) – I found a really nice fashiony, thrifty blog via the recommendations button on Google Reader. It’s a sweet confection full of polka-dots and t-bar shoes and dresses with tulle under them. More Tea Party than Key Party… it’s my kind of cute take on fashion.
It’s called ‘Only Shallow’ and it’s written by a lovely girl from Finland. She’s about 120 years younger than me, but I really like her sense of fun and her thrifty view on dressing up.
