BellaDia is doing a lovely alphabetical theme on her blog. It’s in honour of one of my favourite books ‘Encyclopedia of an Ordinary Life’. Here is my first entry.
A is for alpaca.
I love alpacas – although when i tried to meet some on the way to Warragul, they ran away. A store down the road from us sells alpaca wool products – and one day they had baby alpacas on leashes – and they were walking them up and down the street. The street was dotted with alpaca poop. I didn’t try to meet the baby alpacas.. because they looked REALLY SCARED walking up and down Bridge Road.
OK.. well.. I was scared too. I am scared of alpacas, horses, sheep and cows too. I think if i went near one, they might bite me, or even kick me. Can you love something and be scared of it at the same time? I think you can.
Alpacas remind me of Doctor Dolittle and the PushmePullyou. Whenever we drive past a paddock of them – i grin. I love their geeky weirdness – and their nearly-ness too. Nearly a llama. Nearly a goat. Just nearly.
I wonder if other animals laugh at alpacas?
A is for Amy and Amelie and Ari
Amy number one – my gorgeous friend whos larking it up in Barcelona – and I miss her muchly
Amy number two – who wrote my favourite book – and i thanked her – and she thanked me back for my thankyou
Amelie is my favourite movie and I love to have it on in the background when I’m sewing or when I’m sad. I believe that life can be lived like a fairy tale if you dare and you should always endeavour to suprise and delight others.
Ari is my seven year old son and he is a shining light who brightens my world and makes me laugh and i love him to teeny-tiny-bits-n-pieces
I will get better at this.. i swear.. i just need to get into the swing of it!
xx mikes

I have that book and have always wanted to do this on my blog. I’m playing along – starting tomorrow!!
Alpacas are ace! I’ve always wanted one as a pet. I hear they’re very friendly (or so my husband tells me). Did I mention he wants one too? Love reading your blog, it’s such a treat.
Hi Pip, just wanted to say that I have nominated you for a “Rockin’ Girl Blogger” award 🙂 Details here: http://oneredrobin.com/2007/08/02/rockin-and-other-good-stuff
Just wanted to acknowledge your blog as a source of inspiration.
A is for Alphabet soup. And for Alice in Wonderland.
I saw to my great pleasure that you added me to your links!
But you have to remove the second “s” of sabines, otherwise you can’t get to my blog. And I would love to have some aussie visitors! Thanks!
I loved this post. Your words are gorgeous Pip. I watched Amelie on Saturday night whilst I sewed…it is such a wonderful movie.
For me, I would have to say that A is for apple. I cannot pass up any dessert of any kind with apple in it.
A is for Abigail, Ainsley and Alice.
My friend breeds Alpaca’s and has 80+ last time I saw her (a year ago). She can’t BEAR to sell them! So they grow and grow and have babies… She remembers all of their names and knows their individual traits. It’s beautiful.
