Brooke and I delivered 215 handmade-with-love softies to The Mirabel Foundation on Friday. It was nice to meet the girls who work at Mirabel – and to see Amanda again too! They were packing up toys for some of the 600 kids that they support Australia-wide. A huge task involving lots of sticky tape and paper !
Thanks to all of you who were part of our first ‘Crafting for a Cause’ event. It’s been a huge pleasure to see everyone’s efforts and generosity! Please check the Flickr group discussion board regularly to see what we’re up to on the Mirabel front in the coming months.
The pics above show some donated softies made by Year 7 students in consultation with Jhoanna from One Red Robin. And also some softies made by Anna-Laura’s students too. I’m really excited to think about school groups making softies! We might just get to our target of 600 next year if that trend continues! Look how good they are!
I am MEANT to be starting to pack.. but instead I decided to make a couple of HUGE shopping bags from two HUGE tea-towels I got at Savers yesterday (when I was also supposed to be packing). They turned out great – I lined them with a tablecloth that Kirsty gave me.
We were at the last Camberwell Market for the year this morning at 6am. It was nice to wander around – i got some tea-cards with birds on them and Cam got some records. I WISH i had eaten one of the famous market felafels now – because they are delicious – but I always end up seeing someone I know – and my teeth would have been festively dotted with tabouli.
Anyway.. that’s why I made the bags – because I think those GREEN bags are not very pretty. And I’d rather tote my vintage finds in something a little more.. well.. vintage!
The Mikes Top Five comp ends tomorrow night! I’ll draw a random winner then – and I better start cutting up those fat quarters! TWENTY!
AND we’re about to announce all the details for the Brown Owls logo contest. Whoooooo is Brown Owl?!
xx mikes

Crafting is always a better option! Looking forward to seeing your lovely bags for toting treasures around in.
