Hello

Egg Boats and Hospital Plates

February 15, 2008

I’d been eyeing off these lovely ceramic egg-boats in a designer type store for a couple of years now – so I was super thrilled to find a brand new pair at Savers this week! And six fantastic plates – with Alfred Hospital stamped on them.

(I think I see a collection forming – I love text on china – hence my tacky name cup collection. From now on, it’s hospital plates, bowling club plates, whatever you like with text on it plates!)

Anyway, re the eggs. I just buttered the egg boats with a pastry brush, cracked the egg carefully into each one, simmered for a couple of minutes in a little saucepan of water with the lid on… and WOLF-O! The kids scoffed them in about 2 minutes flat – which is less time than it normally takes to boil an egg. Very pleased. Vegemite toast for soldiers… we think we might grate some cheese on Max’s one next time. Verdict : eggcellent. Sorry.

xx mikes

I did’t even know there was such a thing as egg boats! and I am an egg lover from way back. I will have to keep an eye out for some. YUMO!
