Hello Pip-Life

:: Dixibell, Beavis and Butthead & Granny Squares

April 17, 2012

Hey! How are you? I am good. I am! I am doing lots of things that I really enjoy. I’m not getting much sleep, but I am brimming with the satisfaction that comes from doing things I am MADE to do!
Look at these Dixibell containers. I bought them a few weeks ago and forgot to photograph them. Today they reminded me of the blanket I’m making for Brooke. And a bit of the Mills & Boon Romance novels I got a couple of weeks ago. I am liking these colours a lot.
I joined them using Carina’s method. I just have to finish the border and weave in the ends and I am finito!  Then on to a new baby blanket.  My SISTER had her baby today! I am not sure if I am allowed to tell so I am hiding that news in the middle of this post. Only keen people will read this, right? And keen people can keep a secret, can’t they?!
Ari’s gone to camp 🙁 He left today and he’s super excited and busting to have fun times. I am a bit sad because he’s gone until FRIDAY. BUT I know he is going to be really happy and have fun. One of the other Mums told me she packed chocolate chip cookies in her child’s camp bag. I felt a bit funny that my first instinct was to pack 3 freshly downloaded episodes of Beavis and Butthead on Ari’s iPod. Not very wholesome, Pip. Not gluten free, either.
I saw this on Beavis and Butthead. (I wasn’t REALLY watching, but the kids kinda had it on etc etc)  It’s pretty amazing/rad.  (Language warning, the eff word etc, racially inappropriate terms etc : don’t click PLAY if you are easily offended.)  Sorry if I have offended you.  I’m quite inspired by the bloggers who are a bit sweary and rad and I think they are rubbing off on me.

In inoffensive news, I wrote a piece on JustB this morning that you might like to read. It SORT of proves that I’m not just into crappy TV and dorky videos. I’m into other stuff too.  Read the Pip version of the news here, too, if you would like to (featuring Tom Petty, Rudi Huxtable, Philippe Starck, HBO’s new series GIRLS and an amazing LA elementary school)

AND I’ve got two segments lined up on The Circle in the next month or so! YAY!

How are YOU? Are you a bit sweaty? Are you rad? Is your day going okay?

Write soon.

xx Pip

Love those squares. I'm a big fan of grey so seriously wishing they were mine.

I'm attempting to learn crochet but proving more than a bit useless. !

Hi Pip, I love those Dixibell containers, what lovely colours! I also loved your pictures a while back of the M&B books, they reminded me how my girlfriends and I used to read them ALL the time when I was about 16. We used to buy them at church fetes. The best one I ever bought, which I still have, was a hardback from the 1960s some time, it has a boring brown cover, but I love that Mills and Boon have been around for so long.
    Have a great day!

I like that method of joining grannys, it's similar, but a little easier than the one i use. Also thanks for putting me onto Edenland.

That all sounds lovely and busy and GOOD. Carina's method looks ace, and no more weird ridges from crocheting the squares together. Congratulations to your sister! How exciting! (also buried in the middle of a comment just in case).
I just got Make Hey! for my birthday and just want to go home and get MAKING!
    Love your work Miss Pip.

I couldn't get Carina's method to work – it made my squares look so wonky. I pulled the whole 80 squares apart!
