Help with the Bread

It can take some time to double in size… is it getting bubbles in it?.. it should.. and it should be wet and a bit glossy and shiny on the top. You might need to let it take a bit more time… if the weather is cold it can be a bit sluggish to rise.

Be sure that… your yeast was fresh from the packet and not past the useby, your flour is plain (which it is) and that your dough is not near any draughts. If all these things are true, you’ll be right. Once you can see it’s risen by about half it’s size.. and you’re feeling impatient… just trudge on… when you bake it, I promise it will rise more… but the longer the rising time.. the better the texture and flavour! I’ve baked two loaves from this very recipe today.. and there’s another in the oven now… Let me know how you go!
