Hello

Czechs and Squares

January 12, 2009

I don’t mean to boast. But I can’t help it. I found some great stuff in my travels yesterday and today too! You would not believe what I found on the side of the road. You just would not. But more about that tomorrow. And something special my way came at the Camberwell Market yesterday morning… but I have been too lazy to take photos yet… I swear I’ll do it tomorrow! But for today, a bit of a ‘Life de Mike’ update, so my children can read back over this in years to come and remember what it was all like.

……………………………………………………………………………

It’s been a sunny, lovely, sweet smelling day! The shop was closed which seemed silly since we only reopened last week – but this week a rule was a rule and the rule is CLOSED MONDAY! We did a whole lot of tripping around in the car to far-flung suburbs and came home quite exhausted and chuffed.

Ari and I spent the afternoon making potions on the kitchen table. Cam polished and repaired his new (old, red, vintage) racing bike. Max had a sleepover at a friend’s and disappeared down the street with said friend for Thai dinner.

I made some bread, talked to my new Zinnia plant, caught up on some newsy blogs (see my new links in the sidebar) and had messy hair all day. Cam made rigatoni with meatballs for lunch. The guys pedalled to the pool and I even managed to comb one of Snoopy’s ears before she fell asleep. Ari noted that ‘Sunny Zinnia’ would be an excellent name for a girl. When I was chatting to the plants, Ari said ‘Cut that out.’ I thought that was harsh, but I can see where he’s coming from, I guess. He’s more of a talk to the animals kind of guy.

In other news, there is no dinner. It could be down to bread and wine, perhaps, which is quite Bohemian, although we are not Czechs or vagabonds. We’re kind of square, really. Which is fine with me. What did you have for dinner, vagabond reader?

xx Pip

    Good Morning,
I just wanted to say how nice it is to read your blog. You have a beautiful sounding life and it just sounds nice.
I do love stopping by your shop and hope this year is even better for you then your last.

It was such a lovely day for it today too!
Have you changed your blog settings by any chance? The page keeps stopping and starting when I’m scrolling down.
