:: Craft & Colour at My House…

August 2, 2011

These are the things I have been working on. I guess I have not shown you much lately, due to the batteries in my camera being consistently and ruthlessly nicked by my kids. Ugh.  I have been making a ripple blanket, a popcorn blanket and a sort of crazy crochet blanket.  And the stripey thing is a doggy coat.  And then there is a nearly finished scarf which I started an age ago hanging in the window.  And there are my Wall Pockets from Make Hey (my next book)!  And a couple of mini paper wall quilts (which I did for Frankie and also Make Hey!) too.

I have been listening to Jarvis Cocker’s Desert Island Discs.
I have been reading The Happiness Project.

I have been working on the sister book to Make Hey!
I have been working on a presentation for Craft Victoria.
I have been working on Brown Owls stuff.
I have been working on my new website which will launch in a bit of a while.
I have been working on ideas for the PomPom window!
I have been working on a book proposal too!
These are all really great things to be working on!
We have had so much to do we had to keep the shop closed yesterday to try and keep up. Phew.

Things are pretty busy.  There are lots of changes happening in our life, too.  It’s exciting and a bit angsty to see how it all pans out.  Do you ever feel excited and angsty?  Like you have to put your faith in the universe? I feel like that at the moment.  I have some intermittent butterflies hanging out in my ‘hood.  Sometimes they are quite fluttery, and other times they seem to be cosy cocooned.  Do you ever feel like that?

Are you making anything?  What are you working on?  Where are you?!

xx Pip

Oh, PIP! That popcorn blanket is to die for. Being due to give birth at the end of this year I have been scouting around for a blanket pattern to crochet…can you tell me (and all the other people who have fallen in love with it) where the pattern to this one came from? Or if it's your own then some quick written instructions (I know you are so busy but, oh, please??) I've worked out the popcorn stitch from youtube but I wasn't sure how the grey part works. Anyway, it looks LOVELY. As do all your other projects too.

I want to Pinterest EVERY.SINGLE picture on this post! yah yah. colour-licious……

You've been up to so much, phew. Just wanted to say bestest of wishes and thoughts and hopes for the closing of your little dear shop, and wonderful things for the next ventures. Good on you for doing the brave / scary thing of changing and evolving. I can't wait to see all the good good things you do next.

Wow! That all looks beautiful Pip! I am making some of your slippers at the moment, but I keep making mistakes and having to redo what I've done!

  • beebeeoko August 3, 2011 at 2:03 PM

Wow! I have that wall clock in the first photo! Mine has a tail that swings back and forth. I love it!

I'm working on a crochet toadstool cushion for my daughter. It was supposed to be a footstool but the gauge was a wrong. I'm pretty much self taught and not very good but I'm persisting! Plus, she loves what I make her! So rewarding! haha

Ohhhh…. that POPCORN blanket! Now I have making-frenzy… Is this your own pattern? Or are there instructions available? This is so squishy and cuddly looking!

I'm making granny squares after finally learning to crochet thanks to your tutorials – thanks heaps for the work you put into that, it made it super easy to work out how to make them 🙂

I am working on mothering. Trying to focus more on the small one. She starts school next year and will take a fairy step further away from me. Will cry for sure. Already am.

Also working on teh joys of a Mac. A new one, I love it.

Wow, you have been busy! I am also excited and angsty at the moment – I have just decided to take a week's holiday in a month.

I am going with a great friend, but we've never been away together, so I'm a teeny bit worried about how that will work out. Not really because she's great, but what if I am not? And it's so sudden, I'm a little angtsy about the effect on my bank account. But that's what tax returns are for!

I actually really believe that if the exciting thing is supposed to happen, the angst will sort itself out. And it will all be worth it in the end.

Love seeing Meet Me At Mike's in my Inbox, and from the tram on the way to work xoxo

Oh look at all those wonderful colours! And your crochet, so great!

I completely, totally, utterly understand your nervous excitement feeling. I tend to lean towards the control freak side of things, but unfortunately/fortunately life does not often play along (like for example, when your husband says 'we're moving to Seoul in a month'…) so I know that nervous excitement very well. But it's kind of a fun feeling too? As long as most things work out okay? And it gives you a sense of achievement when it's all over and done with too? Do you think?

And your other question – I'm working on lots of papery goodness, including some crazy daisy gift tags in mad colour combos (hot pink and orange!), as well as some note card sets that I am quietly rather excited about. And some photography and paper art bits and bobs for some mail swap fun – hurrah!

    ..very angsty here…

We are about to pull the back wall down, glass and all, before it falls down-eep!
    We are not renovators!

I love all the colour at your place! And would love to try the popcorn stitch next…

So many things going on, and I do hope those butterflies behave themselves! Your blankets are looking extra good though. I have the exact same granny cart (though mine is sadly in the shed filled with fabrics). I'm in between projects – just finished off a few burp cloths last night.

I love the colors of the projects you are working on. You have been very busy! I am working on getting some nursing covers with matching diaper bags/totes made so I can get my shop up and going. I am also working on making some crocheted flower pins, and hats, scarves and such. Much to do, little time to do it in. I too have the angst, yet excited feelings… A lot riding on what I am doing now. Good luck to you!

  • michelle August 2, 2011 at 11:14 AM

I totally get what you are saying but I must admit that I don't like to stray out of my comfort zone if I can help it. I'm a bit of a control freak in that regard. I like to play it safe.

I love the ripple blanket! I am just sussing out how to make granny squares at the moment. I want to make a cushion for my computer chair. I've also cut out a big quilt for my daughter that I have to sew up yet. I also have to make pyjamas. Love the yellow on your wall. It is such a happy colour!
