A Perfectly Kept House Is The Sign Of A Misspent Life :: By Mary Randolph Carter
Available here (where I bought my copy!)
What do you think?! This is the tip of the iceberg : there are lots of beautiful images of real life homes owned by real great people betwixt the pages. I think you should put this on your wishlist. I do.
xx Pip

This book looks amazing, as do the interiors! Definitely on my wishlist!
Hear! Hear!
I totally agree. My place just gets a mild clean up. Our home is a mish mash of the past and new things being made. You would never see my home in a magazine, but it does have a lot of character.
Thanks for sharing this. Just bought it and can't wait for it to arrive…..
Buy this book? I think you've convinced me -it looks fantastic and I adore the title. I think that's my new motto!
that orange and turquoise kitchen is my kind of heaven!!
Definitely have to buy this one and leave it out in full view. Might even have to buy a coffee table to sit it on.
Thanks for posting details of this book. My sister bought me this book for Christmas and it is totally wonderful. It is currently the top of my bedside reading pile. Inspiring words and stories plus divine photos. I have ordered another copy as a gift . . bliss.
But aren't all those houses perfectly kept too? My house is not perfectly kept in the tidy sense or in the way that these houses seem to be perfectly kept. This book looks lovely and I really would like to browse its pages… but preferably from the comfort of someone else's home!
I totally love the title of the book and the pics you showed here are great. Thanks for sharing.
Looks amazing – i think you would really love the book 'flea market style' by emily chalmers, It has some of the most wonderful photos of creative and really lived in spaces that I have ever seen…
Gorgeous book – I'm so sick of glossy sterile spaces – it's sad to think that some people actually live that way.
Also I thought I'd pass on a great little site http://booko.com.au which lists all the online prices for any book you want to find.
Thanks Pip, followed your tip/link and ordered…it looks brilliant and inspiring
Do still feel bad for my local bookstores and Readings when I order here, do you?
Thanks for this – now I've just made an impulse purchase that I really didn't need but I just love the title. So true!!
Love it! Clutter feels cosy(albeit very stylish clutter:)
Thrilled to see I am not alone in stacking magazines up in huge piles against a wall for 'later'. Oh thank you for sharing this book, reminds me of a fridge magnet my husband bought me – "Dull Women Have Immaculate Homes". Yay to lived in homes. x
That's a mantra I could live by. I had a discussion with a friend who was intimidated by her sister in law's meticulous house keeping. We decided that rather than our house keeping, we would prefer to be remembered for inviting people in and putting the kettle on when guests arrive.
Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! I love it. It's on my wishlist as of now. Thanks Pip!
