So this is a little update on how I’m going with A Year Of Australian Writing (#ayearofaustralianwriting).

I’m reading some quite varied books…

Hard copy: I’ve just finished Joe Cinque’s Consolation by Helen Garner. (I’ve read pretty much all Helen’s books now, I think!) This book is so compelling and awful. I am really glad I read it. It’s hard to believe it could even be true, but alas it is true. I love the way Helen writes, detailing the story and her own struggle with making sense of our justice system and our obligations to each other as human beings. Highly recommended!

Audible on iPhone: I’m listening to Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty on Audible. It’s funny and I love tuning in when I’m on my daily walks or putting my mascara on (or in any other little moments that are sneaking about). I’m nowhere near finished, but it’s super fun. Apparently this book is being made into a tv series too.

Kobo app on iPad: I’m reading Lost and Found by Brooke Davis. I am SUPER loving it. Like so much. I can’t even tell you how much. My publisher Kirsten recommended this book to me and I am very grateful. I just finished watching this Australian Story featuring Brooke and it makes me love the book even more.

Weirdly I was just having coffee with Anna from Etsy today and talking about taking a train trip across the Nullarbor and how great that would be. When I watched the Brooke Australian Story just 15 minutes later, Brooke was talking about taking a trip across the Nullarbor. So weird how things are connecting up. (Also Anna is from Tassie just like me. And she knows Michelle and Jo – two cute ladies that I know from Tassie! Snap!)

You know, there are friends all over and hints of goodness everywhere, if only you look out for them or get people chatting.

You can join in #ayearofaustralianwriting at any time! Go on!

x Pip

Pip, I LOVED Lost and Found too! Loved it so much!

I was lucky enough to read it early, and review it, and have since passed my copy onto others, and have been very vocal about its wonderfulness. It’s really just a completely lovely story, and so Australian. I love that.

I love Helen Garner’s work too. You’re right, I find it very difficult to read sometimes, but I do feel like I’ve been enlightened when I finish one of her books.

I enjoyed Big Little Lies last month. It was on special for Kindle readers through Amazon. I laughed a little, cried a little, and in the end, didn’t see THAT coming!

I loved Big Little Lies. Three Wishes is my favourite Liane novel. Totally recommend!
I have joined in with you Pip and am currently reading The Best Job in the World by Ben Southall which I am really enjoying. I know Ben from his days as “Island Caretaker” so it is great reading his back story.

I’m reading a book by Jackyn Moriarity who I think is Liane’s sister?
I’m liking the challenge too 🙂

Yes! Jacyln is Liane’s sister! Which book is it, Reannon? I have only read one of Jaclyn’s, but I liked it! x

It’s called I Have a Bed Made of Buttermilk Pancakes. I’m really liking it. It’s different & funny & a little weird.
