Hello. How are things going with you? Are they GOOD?  Things are good with me. I’m doing some fun projects and wrangling a few different things. I had a totally weird week where a whole heap of glitches popped up. Every day. Different things. Gah. It was annoying. I’m hoping I have turned the corner in Glitchland. I am hoping that I’m now GOOD TO GO!

Some things I noticed lately:

People in bookshops are prone to talking in funny voices.
Last night we went book shopping for Ari. He’s off to camp on Monday and he wanted a new book. We went to the Brunswick Street Bookstore and then to the Grub Street Bookshop. It was in the second that I noticed people getting a bit theatrical. Not people who were alone, that would be a bit weird, but rather people who were in pairs. One would begin to talk to the other in a funny voice, pulling books from the shelves and giggling. I think the stories transport us. Perhaps we do it when we ARE alone, but we don’t say it out loud? That could be possible. Watch out for this syndrome in a bookshop near you. Report back if you hear similar! Or if you do similar…

Sometimes people base their whole approach to language and communication on negativity
Discussing the BAD stuff that’s happened seems much more comforting and less show-offy than discussing the good, I presume, for these types of people. They know they can get a jolly good chat out of the tricky/sad/awful bits and those are the bits they choose by default. I find it hard to be around people like that. I try to do the opposite so the Bad Bits People really jar. Do you have people in your life like this? Sadness and drama are at the top of their conversation list? Ugh.

Politely semi-swearing at people can really help
This week I semi-swore at some people. I was having a glitchy day and they seemed to be the very personification of glitch. I am normally NOT LIKE THIS, but something went askew. It went something like this:

A man and a lady were standing outside my shop swearing: Fs and Cs and M-Fs and more. The whole shebang. I was having a bad day, so I opened the door and cheerily said ‘Shut up!’ and closed the door again. The lady said in an outraged tone ‘Did she say SHUT UP?!’ The man said ‘YES!’ The lady said ‘Knock on the door and have a go at her for being rude!’. They stood there for a while and then shuffled off quietly.

It’s great when your friends achieve the things they really want to do.

I am obsessed with roti and also ikan bilis
I think it’s a comfort thing. Give me some roti and a little bowl of curry to dip it in and I am happy as a lark. I’m the same with ikan bilis(a spicy fishy sambal.) I love it on toast with a hot cup of tea alongside. Yum. What are you obsessed with in the eating department? Is it roti like me? Probs it’s something else?

Teaching people stuff is really fun
I taught a class at CAE Melbourne last week and I’m doing another today. I really like it. I like being around people and seeing how interested everyone is in making stuff and living a creative life. Speaking of which. THIS. Are you going to take part?

Anna Spargo-Ryan is awesome
I had some issues with one of my WordPress sites and she fixed it in a flash, at the crack of dawn. Amazing. Call her if you have any WordPress problems. She’s your lady.

How about you? Are any of these things making sense to you? Perhaps you have noticed your own interesting things this week? Tell us all about it? If you want to? Thanks!
