The Maker is a lovely shop. It has opened recently in a little arcade off Salamanca Place in Hobart. I did have their card, but I think I left it at Mum’s. (If anyone has their correct contact details and link, do let me know and I will add them to this post : Google would not help me!)
This shop is sort of sophisticated Zakka meets Sunday-Best leisure-wear. Lots of gorgeous, individual clothes and lovely accessories. Lots of things you will not see anywhere else. Natural fibres abound, as do gorgeous fabric prints. The store is beautifully designed and merchandised, with a bit of a found-object-vintage-gal-about-town-journalist-slash-seamstress-on-the-go-white-washed kind of vibe. If that makes sense.
Gorgeous vintage suitcases and typewriters and telephones dot the shelves… and there are lots of clever touches which make you want to hang about and take some deep breaths and soak up the loveliness.
The nice gal who was working on Saturday morning was kind enough to let me take these photos, so you can all take a peek. Don’t you think it looks lovely?
Opposite The Maker is this little shop, Cube, but we were a bit too early birdy and they were not yet in. Next time I will take a peek in there and see what it is all about!
