Hello

Real Peeps Eat Quiche….

June 6, 2009

They really do. Eat quiche, I mean. Look. Up there. That’s my little sister with Ari in that photo. Don’t tell her I put her picture here, because she’ll have my guts for garters, as my Nan would say.

My sister got engaged yesterday to her lovely boy, Andy. Sigh. How extremely romantic is that? Sigh. She has a lovely new shiny engagement ring that is too big for her. We both suggested (separately) that Blue-Tack would be good to keep it in place. Aw. We’re so connected…! I am so proud of her. I think they are going to be very happy together (and already are!!)

Today I woke up so early. At 5.30am to be exact. Fitzroy was still buzzing from a big Friday night and they were all very NOISY, those revellers. I did hear a fellow downstairs on the footpath remark ‘That’s SUCH a nice dress’ whilst presumably gazing in our window. I could hardly be cross. He still had good taste after a big night, which is a virtue. Bless.

We went to the market at 6 and bought supplies for the week. Bread, cheese, vegies, meat and other delicious provisions. We drank coffee and watched the morning dawn. Lovely. Then, we came home and I put the crockpot on for dinner and set to work on lunch. Quiche Lorraine, salad from the garden and chocolate cake. Y to the UM. I’ve made the quiche before and it is delicious. This time I lashed out on some Heidi Gruyere for the filling and it turned out to be a wise decision! I used some nice Wattle Valley creme fraiche and dressed the salad leaves with olive oil and lemon juice and sea salt and ground pepper. Simply good.

Cam closed the shop for half an hour and we had wine with our lunch and cake and coffee for dessert and it was just a lovely, lovely afternoon.

What did you do today, I wonder? Probably tried to get into Mike’s while we had the door shut and were gobbling our lunch down! Sorry. If you did.

xx Pip
