Has anyone ever told you that you look like someone else? That they see you in someone you know/don’t know? That you are a bit similar to another lady/man/character… animal?! (Okay. Maybe the animal thing doesn’t seem like a good one, but there are some very handsome/cute/beautiful animals out there, so don’t write it off altogether.)
I thought it would be fun to talk about doppelgängers, look-a-likes and look-a-bit-likes. Don’t get me wrong, you don’t have to agree with the doppelgängers people have suggested for you, but I thought it would be interesting to chat about this and see how close/far people come to nailing bits of you/me.
So let’s start with me, over the years my look-a-bit-likes have been suggested as:
Italian actress Ornella Muti
Erin Moran from Happy Days
Lauren Graham from Gilmore Girls/Parenthood AND
Schapelle Corby
These are the names that come up over and over again, year in and year out. Hmm. I don’t see ANY OF THESE myself. I kind of get the dark hair, light eyes thing, but the rest is a long bow, IMO.
It’s funny, the way you see yourself right? It’s possibly VERY different to the way other people see you. I’m not suggesting it’s better or worse, but I do think the bits that stick out, the mannerisms that pop, the features that are most noticeable are probably not very noticeable to us, ourselves. The fact that the same doppelgängers come up over and over again would suggest that doppelgängers are not JUST in the eye of the beholder, there might actually be tiny bits of other people that are common to us.
If we could choose our doppelgängers we’d be home and hosed in the self esteem department, methinks, but there is something kind of levelling about having to come to terms with your outer Schapelle/Lauren/Joanie that has to be healthy, right?
Do you have a doppelgänger or two? Don’t be shy. DO TELL!
x Pip
