John and Pip and Clogs and Michelle (and Chris behind the camera)
Thanks to everyone who came along to Readings last night! I expected maybe one or two people, but there were a lot more than that… so thanks! (I had my crochet at the ready, in case no one turned up!) Ari helped me to talk about the book, and let everyone know who was part of it… and then we had a little Q&A session about crafting and fabric shops and what we had for lunch. I talked about the process of making a book and also about the people that designed and edited and photographed the book. It was really fun.
Readings were kind enough to turn on champagne for us, and I signed lots of books… and I did not even spell any one’s name incorrectly. Win!
I mentioned to Fiona at Readings that I liked to go and visit my books at bookshops, and she assured me that I was not weird. Don’t you think that is weird though? I mean, if I go past a bookshop, I have to nip in and and see the Mikes and the Sew Las. I need to make sure they are okay. I am not sure what it’s about. I wonder if other writers do that.
Rosalind and Roxy from Hardie Grant came along last night to keep me company, as did Gemma and Cam and Max and Ari. Shannon and Kimelle from our school came. And lots of of other people who I know via Twitter, and who I don’t know at all came too!
Afterwards we got fish and chips and cider and headed to the Carlton Gardens for a bit of a picnic. Unfortunately the mosquitoes were also having a picnic. Upon us. So we came back home and by THAT stage it was getting late and we packed the kids off to bed. Cam made tea for us all and we chatted and I drank the rest of my cider.
Do you know that I took the badges we made and I forgot to give them out! If you came along and you would like me to send your badge on to you, please send me a message via the contact button above and tell me what I took out of my bag to show you at the event last night! That way I will know you came along! I will need your address too. Sorry I forgot!
In other news… I have started a Sew La Tea Do Flickr group! You can upload your Sew La and Sew La inspired projects there, if you would like to! That way we can all see how you are going!!
PLUS : our lovely new book is selling VERY well!! Imagine that!!! If you need to get one before Christmas you should make haste as the next print run might be a little way off due to the Holidays etc…! If you are happy to wait, then talk amongst yourselves..!
AND : we have an event coming up soon at Mike’s. Yes! So stay tuned for details about that!
ALSO : we MIGHT have a Sydney event and a Melbourne Southside signing… so keep your ear to the ground…
xx Pip
