Hello

:: How Are We Not Perfect.?…

August 14, 2009

I was reading a blog post over here at Small Notebook for a Simple Home. It was kind of about keeping up appearances and following the lead of others. About the pressures to be perfect, ethical, green and fabulous all the time. And it made me wonder a bit. I mean, of course we are all similar in so many ways, striving for quite similar things and trying to do our best, but it mostly made me wonder about how we are different.

What sort of things do you do, which defy convention? What are the things that that make you feel a bit loco and weird – but you like to do them anyway? How are you not perfect?

Here are some of mine::

  • As a mother of three, I feel weird when I am walking by myself. Like I’m naked without my kids.
  • I think Dettol smells really awesome.
  • I prefer cold cooked potatoes to warm ones. Straight from the fridge is best.
  • I move the furniture in my house around ALL THE TIME. I have always done this. It seems strange to me and yet it makes me happy.
  • I like to eat mustard on white bread. That’s it. No embellishment or accompaniment. I like it a lot.
  • I love watching ‘The Real Housewives of NYC’ even though they are not housewives.
  • I look for spelling mistakes everywhere I go.
  • I hate the word awesome, yet I use it a lot. Awesome.
  • I enjoy crocheting at the traffic lights. Not very legal. Not very safe. But I like doing it. Sorry.
  • I have never had a facial. Or a manicure. Or even a pedicure. I don’t fancy it.

How about you? What are your black sheep weirdisms? I won’t tell a soul, I swear.

xx Pip

Hurrah!
