:: Good Stuff Wishlist : Chanie from Genki

December 15, 2012

You might know that I’m sharing the wishlists of some of my favourite people on my blog in the lead up to Christmas.  Today Chanie from Genki is wishlisting for us!!  Are you a Genki fan?  I know that I AM and I bet you or someone you know has one of Chanie’s ‘I Love’ Tees.  If not you must get them one. They will thank you for it. Yep.

I have ‘known’ Chanie for a long time, because we share lots of friends and we are members of the same gang : indie retailers who had rad shops.  It’s a growing gang!  I met Chanie in real life one day at Cibi with my friend Michelle and we had the best time eating Jam Toast and drinking coffee and hanging with one of her gorgeous girls.  She is an ace lady and has an ace family.  It’s all a bit ace, really.  TODAY, Chanie’s  got some GOOD stuff to tell you about her I LOVE TEES and also some stuff to tell us about holidays, present and past.

Here’s Chanie:

As little girl, I had a secret – a little Xmas tree with a blowup Santa hidden in our outdoor bungalow. For years I had begged my parents for a big, beautiful tree, with sparkly lights and pretty stars to put on display in our living room. Why the big secret, well let’s just say my idea was not exactly appropriate for a Jewish family. After many years of begging and a few tantrums too, they agreed to my secret project so long as none of my aunts and uncles found out.

So from then on, every year I would look forward to my covert operation – creating my own little Xmas celebration. Strange how life turns out..…that I now find myself helping my children to decorate our family Christmas tree every December, as well as being in charge of making the plum pudding and ham every year for my in-law’s! I can’t help but get into the celebratory spirit.

Forgive me for being cheesy but top of my Xmas list is having fun times with my family and friends. If I could only have one wish forever and ever, this would be it. Having morning tea with you and Michelle paints this picture so well…being together with people who make me feel alive, happy and present. Chatting about ideas, sharing stories, laughing and really talking about stuff that makes us tick. Good coffee and treats are the cherry on top.

After Xmas, my hubbie and our 3 girls are heading on a road trip up the NSW coast. I’m planning to work on my surfing skills and catch the Op shops on the way home. I must confess I have come to love the road trip as a family holiday of choice – a very special time to be together, read, take photos and explore Australia (and Op shops). We have had some scary meals (like a very strange, grey boiled meat as a “chef’s special”!) and good coffee can be scarce, but overall I give it two thumbs up.

(And here’s some things that Ms Chanie quite fancies for Christmas… or thinks you might quite like under YOUR tree…)

Books:
Books to spark thinking, drawing, making, cooking, crafting…

Charley Harper’s Animal Kingdom
Beci Orpin’s Find and Keep
Jerusalem by Yotam Ottolenghi and Sami Tamimi
Grace: A Memoir by Grace Coddington

Don’t forget to travel!
I want to….
Take a summer road trip: staying mostly in Long beach, Bateman’s bay. Looks amazing!!
Go surfing- I hope…

(I’ve included some family photos from past trips to inspire you!)

What’s on your Wishlist?
Are you going to treat yourself or a pal to an I Love Tee?!  I think I would choose this one! Which one would YOU choose?
