Hello Pip-Life

:: Catching up

January 29, 2014

The holidays drag and go so fast, don’t they? How is it possible that they do both? I do not know! It’s a busy time of year, right? School is just about to go back for us, so there’s all that stuff to whip into shape and sort out. The kids have been staying up late and sleeping in. There’s going to be a bit of an adjustment period over the next couple of weeks, methinks, as Ari starts the whole school routine for another year.  I have one kid at school now. Just one. How did that happen? I keep correcting myself. ‘The kids go back to school. Um. I mean. The kid.” #weird!

I’ve been moving into my studio (even though I can’t actually work there ’til school goes back!) since early January. I’ve been taking things backwards and forwards and trying to imagine what I will need when I do start work. It’s absolutely so freaking nice there. It’s quiet and calm and still. I can’t wait to see how it feels to work somewhere like that. I’m used to being serenaded by angry commuters and honking horns and boozy people as I go about my business. The idea of birds/trees/nothingness is totally foreign and exciting. #eeep

After my stupid sickness I’ve been getting my health on again. I’m still peaky and tired. Dang. Still, I’m trying really hard to exercise a lot, hitting at least 10 000 steps every day. (I tried resting, but it didn’t help so I’m thinking activity might be the key?!) I bought a Fitbit like Kate, but until that arrives in the post I’ve decided not to count my incidental steps, doing 10 000 worth of walks/kms on the cross trainer instead. This is a bonus because I’m doing WAY over my goal each day, but I’m only counting the dedicated walks/cross trainer time. Probably that’s boring. Maybe it’s not, though, if you are trying to keep moving too. #walkthisway

I’ve been hiding out a bit. Not taking many photos. I think I’m taking a breath before the year truly kicks off. Someone suggested I am living by the Chinese New Year and I’m actually finishing off a year still. I like that idea! #yearofthehorse My name means ‘lover of horses’ so perhaps this is MY YEAR! #sayyes

We’ve been eating yummy healthy stuff.  Grainy toast with humus and tomato. Japanese style seared beef with sushi rice and avocado/cucumber salad. Plums. Lovely bread from The Convent Bakery. Nice sandwiches (I am loving tinned salmon and salad sandwiches!) Last night we had this delicious tuna dish. If you are a fan of fresh tuna you will totes love it too. It was amazingly good. (We are not doing paleo but it’s a paleo type recipe!) Thanks Cam. #yum

Blog With Pip starts VERY soon. I have a whole bunch of work to do on the site between now and then. Just a tidy up and some behind the scenes stuff to make it work better (hopefully!) It’s always nerve-wracking to start something new, but heaps of fun once it’s up and running and everyone’s settled in! I can’t wait to meet all my new students and help them learn more about blogging! #exciting

I have lots to do for my book. Still. Artwork and projects finished by the end of February. Gulp. A few people have asked me when it will be on shelves. I think October this year. I think! I will keep you posted! #deadlines

I’ve been watching Beverly Hills 90201 (the original!) a lot. I even started Club 90210 on Facebook for like minded types. I’m good like that. I like to create fun things for bored people. Feel free to join! We talk about The Bangles, Fido Dido, floppy discs and nutso stalkers. #procrastination

And I was lucky because I got to hang out with Zali and Andrew and Hailey today too. Hailey is in Melbourne for some mentoring sessions and Zali is here because she is working on a cute range with Witchery.  I missed out on seeing Poppy but hopefully we will get to catch up another day! Hello Poppy! Hi! #faves

Here’s a beautiful film that Hailey just made about Amy Gill and her ace family and the 365 Grateful project. #sob

It is now that my life is mine – 365 grateful from hailey bartholomew on Vimeo.

How about you? What are you doing? Eating? Watching? Thinking? I would love to know.  What are you having for dinner tonight? We’re having homemade souvlaki! Write soon!
