In the car with this girl and this girl yesterday, apart from talking alot about slugs, we got to talking about suburbs. Where we live. What map numbers we’ve lived on. What we love about where we live. How long we’ve lived there. Some people have lived on the same map for nearly ALL THEIR LIVES. Some of us have flitted all over the place.
So, share with me, if you will, your very own Street Directory Map Number – and a little bit about your area. You don’t have to go into too much detail about location – privacy is very important on la internet! But I would LOVE to know where you are and why you are! Refer to any map you like! Tell us why you live where you do!
After many years on Melbourne Melway’s Map 45 – and then some on 2G – I now reside on the-much-closer-to-the-front of the book 2C. Here I am in a two storey shopfront, with my two boys and Cam and two dogs and a cat and a mouse too! I love my suburb, because it’s full of beauty, reality, creativity and inspiration. There’s 10 places to get great coffee, there’s hundreds of things to look at in wonder, there’s five op-shops, there’s scores of wonderful stores and galleries. There are amazing buildings, there are beautiful magnolia trees, there are terrific and interesting people from every walk of life. People say hello when I walk down the street. It’s only ten minutes walk to the city.. and just over the back fence is the Museum. It’s busy and bustling. It’s happy and hustling. I LOVE 2C!
