Modern Embroidery by Ike Rosen

April 22, 2007

Such a geek… I have had a picture of the COVER of this book on my computer for about 12 months.. I loved the tea-potty owl embroidery they featured so much… I even printed out stickers with the owl pic on it.. So imagine my delight when I found the actual, real, fantastic book at a second hand bookstore on Saturday! It is AMAZING.. and there are definately some designs that I am going to labour away at! Molly and I spent much of yesterday afternoon in the store gasping over the cool stuff in this book!

Here are some images for you to drool over.. if anyone wants to get a closer look.. just pop into Mikes! On a more knitty note.. I finished knitting my pink scarf last night! I am just going to add some final details and hope for much cooler weather! And we have a photographer coming today to take pics of Mikes for the GRID map tourist guides.. so MUST be sure Mike is looking his best today!

Ha, I think we need an owl Flickr group. As a child of the seventies I had for many years a collage of an owl done in different macaroni and pasta shapes and pva glue. Of course, needless to say, I made it myself.

I LOVE it. I love vintage craft books from 50s-70s.

I bought a piece of vintage children’s barkcloth and I loved it so much while I was waiting for it to arrive I had a picture of it as my pc wallpaper. (Yes, it’s still my wallpaper)
